This global amateur event promises an innovative format, exclusive access to premier courses, and culminates in a grand championship in the Dominican Republic in late 2025.

The competition spans four continents, 216 courses, 313 rounds, and features over 13,000 players, making it the world's most upscale amateur golfing contest. Dormie Workshop Co-Founder Todd Bishop will also compete among players from around the globe.

British Columbia Amateur golf legend Doug Roxburgh was competing at Egg Harbor Township in New Jersey for the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship this past weekend and despite a tough start managed to get through to the match play portion of the tournament.

Roxburgh counts no fewer than 13 British Columbia Amateur titles to go along with his 4 Canadian Amateur wins and is a member of both the B.C. and Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.

 (August 15, 2016) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: The world’s top women golfers are set to take the Olympic stage in Rio de Janeiro beginning this Wednesday, 17 August.

The International Golf Federation this morning announced the draw for the first and second rounds of the women’s golf competition at Rio 2016 when a field of 60 competitors will be seeking to follow in the footsteps of Margaret Abbott of the United States, who won the gold medal in Paris in 1900.

Started in 2013, Drive Chip & Putt is a joint initiative of the Masters, PGA of America and the USGA. Boys and girls are organized into 4 categories, by age, and compete in driving, chipping and putting. Ages groups are 7-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15.

Qualifying takes place at over 250 local qualifying sites throughout the United States. Top finishers at each site advance through sectional, then regional qualifying, with the final 80 competitors representing 10 finalists, in 4 age divisions for both genders.

Team British Columbia made it five straight wins at the North Pacific Junior Ladies matches played May 27 - 29th at The Home Course in Dupont, Wash. 

Modelled after the Curtis Cup matches for amateur women, the North Pacific matches are played annually and feature teams from B.C., Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

All competition is match play with the front nine worth one point, the back nine one point and the overall 18 another point.

The long wait is over for Team British Columbia in its quest for a ‘five-peat’ in the North Pacific Junior Ladies Team Matches. 

It was way back in 2019 that British Columbia won its fourth straight title in the annual competition that features junior teams from B.C., Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

B.C.’s drive for five was put on hold when the 2020 and 2021 matches were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, finally, the matches are a go and scheduled for May 28-29 at The Home Course in Dupont, Wash.

The PNGA Cup is headed back to Oregon, where it should feel right at home. After all, the Oregon Golf Association won five of the first seven PNGA Cup competitions, which began back in 2006. But after its win in 2012 the well went dry. Oregon had been blanked in the past three PNGA Cups. That changed Friday at Richmond Country Club when Oregon reclaimed the cup, beating Washington by a single point in the Ryder Cup-style team competition that also featured squads from British Columbia and Idaho.

At the end of each golfing season, the Pacific Northwest Golf Association selects the region’s Players of the Year in eight different categories: Men’s, Women’s, Mid-Amateur Men’s, Mid-Amateur Women’s, Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s, Junior Boys’, and Junior Girls’.

The players are voted on by the PNGA Championship Committee, and this committee extends to the NWGMA one vote in each category as part of the process.

B.C. Amateur champion Jared du Toit is off to the NCAA Championship tourney in Eugene, Ore. Du Toit helped lead the Arizona State Sun Devils to a first-place finish at a NCAA regional tourney in Albuquerque, N.M. on Wednesday.

Du Toit, a Kimberley resident who is completing his junior year and won last year’s B.C. Amateur at Fairview Mountain in Oliver, shot rounds of 72, 73 and 75 to finish in a tie for fifth place at four-over par. The Sun Devils posted a 54-hole team score of 12-over par to beat the field by 12 shots.

B.C. Amateur Champion Has Fit In Nicely With Sun Devils After Transferring From Idaho

An early eagle and some help from an old friend propelled Mexico’s Luis Carrera to the biggest win of his amateur career. Carrera and Rodrigo Pena were junior golf friends who were members of the same course in Mexico City.

Neither could quite believe it when they ran into one another during the second day of the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship at Point Grey Golf & Country Club. Carrera was in the field playing the event, while Pena had started working in the Point Grey pro shop about a month ago after moving to Vancouver recently with his Canadian wife.

On Thursday, the two old friends had a day they will never forget.

As part of this commitment, the national golf organizations have launched the EDGA 359 Pilot Project, presented by Golf Canada and the PGA of Canada, partnering with EDGA (formerly the European Disabled Golf Association) on coach training designed to demystify adaptive golf and give coaches the confidence needed to launch and develop programs for golfers with disabilities across Canada.

“Through this coach training, we are eager to increase support for golfers of all abilities and make our sport inclusive of more Canadians,” said Laura Wilson, Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Safe Sport for Golf Canada.

The European Disabled Golf Association Has Been Announced As The Official Charity To The Portugal Masters At Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course October 24-27th - Image Courtesy Facebook/EDGA

The EDGA changes the lives of people with disability through the power of golf. Made up of volunteers from the National Golf Federations from 29 countries around the world, its objective is to help more than half a million people living with a disability try the sport of golf.

All charitable funds raised by EDGA at the Portugal Masters from tournament draw sheet sales, a longest drive competition sponsored by Golfbreaks, taking place during Wednesday’s Pro-Am, and a raffle, with some fantastic prizes to be won, will help fund the delivery of training, education and programmes in the country.

Tiffany Kong and Angela Zhang aren’t just good golfers, they are also excellent students and that combination has the two Vancouver friends heading to the Ivy League.

Kong is off to Princeton University in New Jersey this fall, while Zhang is bound for Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Both are beyond excited about what lies ahead and delighted they will be seeing one another on the course as they begin the next phase of their lives.

Berne Neufeld is my golf partner. When she hits a great drive I shout, much to her embarrassment, “Feel the Berne!” She didn’t get the reference to that American Bernie, so often in the headlines. While I first did it to tease her (which is easy), I now do it because she is a person whose commitment to a cause reminds me of a political candidate in the heat of a campaign battle.  

And Berne’s cause is the Evans Caddie Scholarship Program.

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada—After his third round, Sam Fidone mentioned he would likely be feeling some nerves on his stroll up to the first tee Sunday at the Bayview Place DCBank Open presented by Times Colonist.

Fidone appeared to make that stroll with all the confidence in the world, striping his first tee shot down the Uplands Golf Club fairway to begin his march toward a bogey-free 65 and commanding five-stroke victory.

(AUGUST 16, 2023) Vancouver, B.C. – Golf Canada in partnership with Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) announced today the final field of competitors set to challenge for the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open taking place August 22-27 at the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, B.C.

Defending champion Paula Reto leads a stellar field of competitors that includes nine of the top-10 and 22 of the top-25 players on the Race to CME Globe standings. The field will also include 16 of the LPGA Tour’s in-year winners and all 2023 Major winners including two-time major champion and new world no. 1 Lilia Vu.
