2025 Team BC Officially Launched

RICHMOND, BC (May 1, 2025) - British Columbia Golf has a proud history of helping to produce some very talented young golfers who have performed extremely well provincially, nationally and internationally.

In keeping with this tradition, BC Golf is pleased to officially launch the Boys Regional Squad teams representing Vancouver Island, Metro Vancouver, The North Shore and The Okanagan.

The four squads and their coaches were formally announced on April 28th at the Quilchena Golf & Country Club in Richmond...

BC Golf unveiled the names of the players on the four regional Team BC Boys Squads along with their BC coaches at Richmond's Quilchena Golf & Country Club who are celebrating their 100th Anniversary this year, a special place for a special announcement. Quilchena G&CC is also hosting the 2025 BC Junior Boys Championship.

Some high-level guests were invited to address the group on what lies ahead for them as this brand new BC Golf Performance program goes forward. 

The athletes and coaches heard from Joel Harry, Team BC Mission Staff for the 2025 Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland. Joel also holds the position of Manager, Performance Sport for ISPARC. Joel gave insight as to the upcoming Canada Summer Games being held in Atlantic Canada this year and what being on Team BC will entail. As part of his presentation Harry outlined the exciting opportunity that awaits for two BC junior boys to secure spots on the 2025 Canada Summer Games team for golf in Newfoundland.

The afternoon competition held at Quilchena was in fact the first stage of selection for Team BC's entry in the upcoming CSG.

Further to that end, BC Golf was pleased to be able to welcome Brady Stead, who is the Director of Instruction at Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, the home of 5-time PGA TOUR Winner (and 2023 RBC Canadian Open Champion), Nick Taylor.

Brady has been working with some of Team BC's players already and will be an integral part of BC Golf's hopes to establish another regional squad in the Fraser Valley for 2026. Stead's work is very much focussed on preparing the players for NextGen competition, which gets underway this weekend at his home course, Ledgeview.

Guest Coach John Vu from Quilchena G&CC was on hand to lend his expertise on the day as well. John is a PGA of Canada teaching professional who thoroughly enjoys working with juniors looking to take their game to the next level and setting up a plan for the golfer’s specific needs in order for their game to reach maximum potential.

One of the Sport Specialists in attendance was TPI Certified Physiotherapist & NSCA Strength & Conditioning Coach Jason Chung.  on hand to address the team members and give them an idea of the high level of guidance and support they will be receiving going forward.

In addition to this announcement is the news that the Team BC Regional Girl's squad program is in the works looking ahead to 2026.
