Victoria Liu was on the driving range early Wednesday afternoon at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club, which is not unusual. Shaughnessy has become a second home of sorts for the Vancouver resident, who is heading into her third year of collegiate golf at Princeton University.

But this was a little bit of a different range session.

To her left, Lexi Thomson was hitting balls, and a couple of spots to her right, Brooke Henderson was warming up.

It was a ‘this isn’t Kansas anymore’ type of moment for Liu, who on Thursday afternoon will tee it up in her first L:PGA Tour event at the CPKC Women’s Open.

When Darren Douma began to lose his sight, he thought he was going to lose golf as well. 

Phil Mickelson helped convince him otherwise.

It was the spring of 2010 and Douma, having been diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease, was watching that year’s Masters telecast. Mickelson was hitting his second shot out of the pine straw on the par 5 13th hole in the final round and, well, you probably remember the shot, too.

British Columbia Golf is pleased to announce that Chris Crisologo of Richmond and Steven Diack from Coquitlam will be representing BC in the 90th Mexican Amateur Championship June 8 -11, 2017 at the Campeche Country Club in Campeche located on the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.

Crisologo and Diack will play as individuals and as a team simultaneously in the 16th International Mexican Pairs Championship representing British Columbia.

NORMAN, Okla. – Simon Fraser University sophomore Chris Crisologo of Richmond, BC, was today named to the NCAA Division II PING All-America Third Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America. 

Crisologo, a Third Team selection, was among 24 student-athletes from NCAA Division II named to either the first, second or third teams.

Seaside, CA – Chris Crisologo added a little more hardware to his personal trophy case on Tuesday, as the junior wrapped up a solo victory at the Otter Invitational with a terrific second day. As a whole, the SFU Clan men's golf team took fifth in the three-round event, which was hosted by the Cal State Monterey Otters at Bayonet Golf Course.

BELLINGHAM, WA – On the final day of the Western Washington Men's Golf Invitational, SFU's Chris Crisologo shot a one-over 73, holding off a charging Andrew Harrison, to take his first win of the season.

The 2019 Masters field is set. With Corey Conners' win at the Valero Texas Open, the field has moved from 86 to 87 to match last year's small field, with Patrick Reed eventually earning the Green Jacket.

The 87 golfers in each of the last two Masters represent the smallest field for the first major of the year since there were 86 golfers in the field when Tiger Woods won in 1997.

According to CBS Sports golf columnist Kyle Porter, "Conners is a nice late addition, but he's obviously not one of the favorites. This year's Masters favorite happens to also be the best golfer on the PGA TOUR this season and the man to whom a victory here would probably mean the most of any of the superstars in the game.

"Rory McIlroy is an 8-1 favorite to win his first Masters, and he's followed closely by Dustin Johnson at 10-1 and Justin Rose at 12-1. Combined, that trio has 10 top 10s in 11 Masters over the last four years."

SOUTHPORT, England – Team Canada Development Squad member Chloe Currie made history Thursday at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club, shooting up the leaderboard at the Duke of York to leapfrog the competition on her way to becoming the first Canadian to capture the Young Champions Trophy.

The Mississauga, Ont., product saved her best for last, carding a tournament-low 68 (-4) to finish atop both the boys’ and girls’ divisions with a 54-hole total of 214 (-2).

Victoria's Dale Jackson is in Rio as a golf rules official for the 2016 Olympic Games and is providing a daily blog on what he sees and experiences as Canada attempts to defend its Gold Medal from the 1904 Olympic Games the last time golf was a part of the quadrennial event.

Victoria, B.C. - Dana Christianson of Tacoma, Wash. outlasted Brooks Lancaster of Kaleden, B.C. in the final match to win the 41st Pacific Northwest Master-40 Amateur Championship, held last week on the Mountain course at Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria, B.C.

The championship, which was conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA), consisted of the top male amateur golfers in the Pacific Northwest over the age of 40.

BREWSTER, Wash. — If you build it, they will come. When David McLay Kidd finished creating his Field of Dreams — Gamble Sands — 10 years ago, the Scottish architect was certain golfers would make the trek to its out-of-the-way location in central Washington to have a look.

The question in his mind was, would they return? “Nobody knew if anyone would come out here and I told them getting people to drive out here is not going to be the hard part,” McLay Kidd says. “The hard part is going to be to get them to come back again and again and again.”

He needn’t have worried. Golfers have flocked to Gamble Sands, a course now regarded by many as one of the best in the United States.

British Columbians are being invited to share their views on how we should observe time in our province. Most areas of B.C. currently “spring forward” into Daylight Saving Time during summer months and “fall back” to Standard Time in the winter.

British Columbia Golf believes that continuing to change our clocks bi-annually is of particular benefit for recreational activities including, of course, golf.

Teams from Canada, USA, Australia, Great Britain & Ireland, South Africa, and Sweden are set to head to Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico next week for the second PGA Women’s Cup, where Canada will look to build on their runner-up finish from the 2019 event in Texas.

Two new players, Caroline Ciot and Katy Rutherford, will join second-time competitors Emma de Groot, Casey Ward and Christine Wong at Twin Warriors Golf Club. Wong was the top player on the Canadian squad in 2019, firing the team’s low score two out of three days in the form of a 70 and 71.

British Columbia Golf is looking to retain the title they won on home soil at Pitt Meadows Golf Club in the 2016 event.

(Jun 30, 2022) Richland, Wash. – Gonzaga golfer Jace Minni of Delta, B.C. shot rounds of 73-73-68 to win the 101st Washington Men’s Amateur Championship by one shot over Max Herendeen of Bellevue.

The championship was held June 28 -30th at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland, Wash. The three day championship was conducted by Washington Golf (WA Golf). 

Minni and Herendeen were paired in the same group and entered the day in a tie for third, two shots back of leader Jordan Brajcich of Everett.

Sophomore Mary Parsons picked up her first collegiate win for the Indiana Hoosiers Women's Golf Team  after rounds of 70 and 66 put her at 8-under par, six shots ahead of second place Inez Wanamarta of Purdue.

Parsons led her team to the overall victory in the weather-shortened Lady Boilermaker Classic held in West Lafayette, Indiana.

FAIRFAX, Calif. – The Oregon State women's golf team rallied in the final round of the Meadow Club Invitational on Tuesday, March 10th to win its second title of the season. Senior Nicole Schroeder and freshman Issy Taylor both fired a 3-under 69 in the final round to lead the Beaver charge and help the team post a 4-under 284 effort on the day.

Oregon State concluded the two-day, 54-hole tournament with a 7-over 291-296-284--871 at the par-72, 6,157-yard Meadow Club to win the 13-team event by six strokes over second-place Washington State.

WILLEMSTAD, Curacao — The MCB Curacao Masters concluded Saturday, April 11th at the beautiful Blue Bay Golf and Emmstad Golf & Squash Club.

Twenty-eight professionals and 26 amateurs, including three CJGA members, Ty Celone, Keaton Gudz, and Charles Thompson teed it up in the 9th annual MCB Curacao Masters.

The professionals played in a three day stroke play competition for the Curacao Cup while the amateurs battled for the Curacao Top Amateur title.
