KAPOLEI, Hawaii – For the final two days of the Lotte Championship, it was pretty clear that the only player who could beat Brooke Henderson was Brooke Henderson.

She wasn’t about to let it happen Saturday at windy Ko Olina Golf Club, where she won by four shots. The Smiths Falls, Ont., native was too talented, and she had some very important people to play for, dedicating her victory to the people involved in the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team bus crash in Saskatchewan.

Adam Hadwin and his wife Jessica recently celebrated the first birthday of their daughter Maddox, a day in which they reflected on not only the joy she has brought to their lives but the struggle they faced bringing her into the world.

Adam and Jessica went through many ups and downs, including two failed pregnancies, in their attempts to start a family.

With the help of in vitro fertilization (IVF), Maddox arrived on January 8, 2020. The struggles they endured and the fact they were in a financial position to use IVF led the Hadwins to think about trying to help others facing similar challenges. Late last year they started The Hadwin Family Foundation.

REGINA, Sask. (Golf Canada) — Golf Canada in partnership with Canadian Pacific (CP) announced the field of competitors set to challenge for the 2018 CP Women’s Open taking place August 23-26 at The Wascana Country Club in Regina, Sask.

Defending champion and world no. 4 Sung Hyun Park will lead a stellar field that includes world no. 1 Ariya Jutanugarn, world no. 5 Lexi Thompson, world no. 6 Shanshan Feng, world no. 7 Minjee Lee, world no. 9 Jessica Korda and world no. 10 Georgia Hall as well as Canadian superstar Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont.

Golf Channel recently announced a new reality competition series, Altered Course, that combines golf, speed, fitness, teamwork and decision-making as teams navigate re-imagined and extreme golf holes in excess of 700 yards, traversing the natural obstacles and challenging terrain as fast as possible.

Altered Course’s inaugural season will take place in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Of particular interest to Canadians, and British Columbians specifically, is the team of Eileen Kelly and Kyla Inaba, calling themselves the #Canadian Ninjas.

Bryson DeChambeau's thought of driving it over the lake and into the ninth fairway while playing No. 18 this week at TPC Sawgrass isn't unprecedented.

The aggressive line is already known as “The Sihota Line.”

Last September at the AJGA Junior Players Championship, Jeevan Sihota, a high-school junior from Victoria, British Columbia, played the Stadium Course's par-4 finishing hole down the ninth all three days.

“It’s a lot wider target to hit,” Sihota told GolfChannel.com on Tuesday. “I knew I had speeds capable of doing it, so I figured why not? It leaves you a better angle into the green and basically takes the water out of play.”

For the third time this season Adam Hadwin shot 29 for nine holes. His second round back-nine 29 went with a 35 on the outward 9. The 6-under 29 coming home vaulted him to the top of the leaderboard here at the Valspar Championship where he is walking the fairways looking very composed, his rhythm and tempo extraordinary. He's a very relaxed and calm young man.

For Canadian golf, 2015 certainly was a year to celebrate

When David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., held the 54-hole lead at the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey, we held our breath in the hope that he might be the first Canadian since Pat Fletcher in 1954 to win our national Open. Alas, it was not to be, as Australian Jason Day birdied the last three holes on Sunday to claim the title on his way to becoming the top-ranked player in the world.

While kudos go to Hearn, it was a teenager from Smiths Falls, Ont., who was the undisputed player to be celebrated this year.

The year 2017 has drawn to a close and what a year it was for Canadian golf. Our pros won literally around the world and on just about every tour imaginable. Our amateurs of all ages made Canada proud at home and abroad.

And, off the course, there were significant moments that are well worth memorializing as 2018 gets underway. This is the first of a three-part series remembering most, if not all, of those memorable moments.

The application for the 2017 Mackenzie Tour Qualifying Tournament will be open to the public on January 19th at 12 p.m. ET.

NOTICE TO APPLICANTS:

NOTE: Applicant may only play one site. Once applicant is assigned a site, it may not be changed. Sites will be assigned in the order the applications are received.

Should an applicant withdraw within one week of their assigned competition, a processing fee of $1000 will be assessed. Should they withdraw prior to one week of their assigned competition, a processing fee of $250 will be assessed.

No refunds will be issued to contestants after they have started play in the Qualifying Tournament. Contestants who withdraw during the round may be subject to disciplinary action.

Full refunds will be offered to those who withdraw while on the alternate list.

(Golf Canada) – ​The success of the 2019 CP Women’s Open at Magna Golf Club in Aurora, Ont., was recently recognized as the Tournament Partners of the LPGA presented Golf Canada and Canadian Pacific (CP) with two Gold Driver Awards for delivering best-in-class elements among all LPGA Tour events.

The annual Gold Driver Awards were hosted in conjunction with the LPGA Tour’s season-ending CME Group Tour Championship at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Fla. The Tournament Partners of the LPGA (formally Tournament Owners Association) have a long standing tradition of recognizing best in class tournaments with Gold Driver Awards at the season ending event on the LPGA Tour calendar.

At the formal ceremony, the CP Women’s Open received Gold Driver Awards for Best Community and Charity Engagement and Best Sponsor Activation.

The "Golden Ticket" was up for grabs Sunday at the Valero Texas Open...Starting Sunday, Corey Conners was looking for that win and a spot in the Masters as his two playing partners Si Woo Kim and Charley Hoffman both had their spot secured. 

Conners and past Champion Mike Weir will be the only Canadians in the field at Augusta National this year.

The Masters can't get here soon enough, and it will always signal the beginning of golf season, specifically for those who live in cold-weather areas.

The sights and sounds at Augusta National kick off the year in a way that no other tournament can, and this year's edition of the Masters promises to be a special one. There are too many intriguing storylines to count, with Rory McIlroy's quest for the career Grand Slam leading the way following his Players Championship victory.

Of course, there's also Tiger Woods, who will be the main draw as long as he's still healthy enough to compete at Augusta National. Patrick Reed, whose game is beginning to trend in the right direction, is the defending champion.

 – Golf Canada and RBC will now pivot all efforts towards planning for a celebrated return of the RBC Canadian Open in 2021 – 

TORONTO – With continued public health concerns as well as international travel and government restrictions due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the PGA TOUR, in consultation with Golf Canada and RBC, has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 RBC Canadian Open.

The event was scheduled for June 8-14 at St. George’s Golf and Country Club with Islington Golf Club as the official practice facility. The cancellation of the 2020 RBC Canadian Open also includes the RBCxMusic Concert Series which was scheduled to take place June 12-13 at Richview Collegiate Institute, featuring headline performances by The Chainsmokers and Keith Urban.

“The RBC Canadian Open has always been a rallying point for Canadian golf and while we share in the crushing disappointment with our fans, players, volunteers and many event partners, our primary responsibility is the safety of our people and our communities,” said Golf Canada CEO Laurence Applebaum.

“It is now our full intention to push forward together with RBC, the PGA TOUR, the City of Toronto and our host clubs with the goal to bring the 2021 RBC Canadian Open to St. George’s Golf and Country Club with Islington Golf Club as the official practice facility.”

VENICE, Fla. – 10 Canadians are among 210 competitors vying to punch their tickets to the third and final stage of LPGA Qualifying School from Oct. 20-23 at the Plantation Golf & Country Club.

Playing on the Bobcat and Panther courses, all athletes will compete in the 72-hole stroke-play event (with no cut) to earn one of the Top 80 slots (plus ties) to advance to the third stage at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla., from Dec. 1-4.
