The 2019 Mackenzie Tour - PGA Tour Canada season is not far away and the first event on their schedule kicking off the season will be at Vancouver's venerable Point Grey Golf & Country Club.

They also need caddies. As it happens, last year's champion Jordan Niebrugge had his bag toted by longtime Pitt Meadows Golf Club member Nigel Colclough, so it could be your turn this time.

Along with the opportunity to be up close with many future PGA TOUR stars (both Abbotsford's Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor played on the Mackenzie Tour and have gone on to record victories on the PGA TOUR), there is a great volunteer package that includes tickets for a Vancouver Canucks game.

Editor's Note:This week, BC's Golf contributor, Shayain Gustavsp ('Coach Shayain' to many of her students and social media followers), has flown south to take in the very unique spectacle that is the WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona. Shayain will be posting daily observations from the 'Greatest Show on Grass' offering a wide-eyed Canadian's perspective on both the golf and the party-like atomosphere that surrounds the TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course.

Heading to the Waste Management Phoenix Open, I was buzzing with the excitement of a snowbird fleeing the chill, ready to soak up Scottsdale's desert sun. Yet, Mother Nature had a twist in store, swapping my sunhat for a tuque as Vancouver's signature drizzle followed me to Arizona.

Who knew the desert could feel like a brisk day by the Pacific? Thank goodness for my stash of Lululemon layers – a shoutout to my Canadian roots and a lifesaver for weather-whiplashed golf enthusiasts like me. Lesson learned: even in the land of cacti, layering is key!

Kamaiu Johnson Will Realize A Lifelong Dream When He Tees It Up This Week At Torrey Pines - Image Courtesy Kamaiu Johnson/Twitter

    By Tod Leonard / Golfdigest.com

The story of Kamaiu Johnson’s improbable journey to his PGA TOUR debut in this week’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines has to begin with the stick. Not a golf club. A real, honest-to-goodness stick. One that blew off a tree.

If Johnson, a slightly built teenager, had not been swinging a stick near his apartment on the perimeter of the Haliman Golf Course in Tallahassee, Fla., in 2007, Jan Auger would never have noticed him.
