    The XXVIII Campeonato Internacional De Afficionados sees Brent Wilson and Craig Doell representing British Columbia at the Lima Golf Club in Lima, Peru. In this tournament, the “Manuel Prado Cup” is played by two-player teams with aggregate scores, and the “Carlos Raffo Cup” is awarded to the best individual score.

    PACIFIC COAST GOLF ASSOCIATION (Eugene, OR)- University of Oregon Duck Sophomore Aaron Wise of Lake Elsinore, California has etched his name in Pacific Coast Amateur history with an impressive final round at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.

    Coming into the final round, Wise sat two strokes back of third round leaders Will Zalatoris of Plano, Texas and Bryson DeChambeau of Clovis, California. Wise got off to a great start, making birdies on holes one and three to get to four under and into a lead he would never relinquish.

    "Today was a great day," stated Wise. "I got off to a hot start just as I had wanted to."

    British Columba Golf wishes all who are observing Yom Kippur a peaceful and fulfilling day of reflection. 

    Yom Kippur is the culmination of the high holidays, a period of 10 days of repentance. These dates fall during the Hebrew month of Tishrei, which typically overlap with September or October in the Gregorian calendar. In 2023, Yom Kippur begins on the evening of September 24 and ends in the evening of September 25.

  • With Updates On The Horizon, Golf's Original Rules Reveal A Rougher Game

    Now that the governing bodies of golf have finalized the 'modernized' version of golf's rules, due to be brought into effect January 1, 2019, we thought we would bring to everyone's attention an article published in the Globe and Mail recently that harkens back to the original rules of the game from 1744.

    Once upon a time, golf was played under a 13 rule format and although in many ways it was a much simpler game, it was also a far more difficult game, certainly at least when you take into account how often the initial laws essentially inferred that it was, 'tough luck old chap' when a number of unfortunate occurences took place.

  • World Golf Hall Of Fame Member Bernhard Langer Commits To 2016 Pacific Links Championship

    Victoria, B.C. (July 11, 2016) – World Golf Hall of Fame member Bernhard Langer committed to play the 2016 Pacific Links Championship, to be contested on Bear Mountain Golf Resort’s Mountain Course in Victoria, British Columbia, the week of September 19-25, 2016. The event will feature a US$2.5 million purse, with 81 players competing for a winner’s share of $440,000.

    Langer, a two-time winner of the Masters Tournament, has notched 28 career titles on PGA TOUR Champions, which ranks third all-time behind Hale Irwin (45) and Lee Trevino (29).

    Though many countries are planning to adopt the new system in January, the system will go live in other parts of the world throughout the year to accommodate different implementation plans and variations in the golfing calendar.
