Tobiano golfers will soon be able to do more than just admire the stunning views of Kamloops Lake during their rounds. They’ll have the opportunity after they play to hop in a boat to do a little cruising, water-skiing or wake-boarding, or perhaps head out on a jet ski, paddle-board or kayak.

The golf course has purchased Bruker Marina, which is located on the Tobiano resort property, and general manager Terry Smith said the course plans to develop unique ‘Birdie, Boat and Barbecue’ packages where golf groups can play 18 holes in the morning, spend some time on the water in the afternoon and enjoy a meal afterward on the clubhouse patio.

Why the greatest game has the cheesiest accessories is beyond me. You’ve seen them: Caddyshack gopher head covers, ugly sweaters and those visors with the fake hair sprouting out the top.

Note to my family: Buy me one of those and the next time you see one while walking through the local thrift store and remark, “Hey, that’s just like the one we got Uncle John for Christmas,” rest assured it is the same one.

So here’s the real stuff the golfer in your life (and likely you) want for Christmas.

Coquitlam's Henry Lee Has His First Official Pro Paycheque From The PGA Tour Latino-America circuit

By Brad Ziemer, British Columbia Golf

Henry Lee will always remember that his pro golf journey started a long way from his Coquitlam home. About 11,000 kilometres to be exact. He’ll also recall that he cashed a cheque in that first event.

Not a big one, mind you, but he got paid nonetheless. Lee tied for 43rd at the Argentine Open in Buenos Aires, the season-opening event of the 2022 PGA Tour Latino-America circuit.

For that, Lee made $866.25 US from the $175,000 purse. That likely won’t cover airfare, but it’s a positive first step in his professional life.

LANGLEY, British Columbia — Being an entrepreneur, or in this case a golfpreneur, isn’t easy especially in the case of Jaime and Gordon Jarvis’ new business.

Then again, it’s somewhat of a cakewalk compared to their upbringing. Early in their lives the brothers faced daily difficulties as their mother battled drug problems and the boys dealt with the struggles that lifestyle brings upon a family.

Now though, they’re all bound and determined to make a go of it in the golf industry after undertaking a new venture in supplying golf aids to courses, and individuals.

Corrine Allan doesn’t hesitate when asked if she thinks her golf course, now one giant water hazard, can recover from the devastation brought by the flooding in the Sumas Prairie area of Abbotsford.

“Oh gosh, yes,” says Allan, owner and general manager of Fraserglen Golf Course. “I am going to aim for March. There is a lot of water and debris on the course, but once that is cleaned up and the greens are cleaned over time, it will come back just fine.”

Make that lots and lots of water. Allan estimates her clubhouse and restaurant had as much as five feet of water inside them.
