When a golf course, such as Big Sky Golf & CC in Pemberton, B.C., receives the accolades it has in the recent past, it’s easy to sit back and live on one’s charm.

That, though, isn’t the way the operation runs at this scenic track in the Pemberton Valley.

Federal Way, Wash. – In the November 2015 issue of Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine, the par-5 18th hole at Big Sky Golf Club in Pemberton, B.C. is recognized as one of the “Great Holes of the Northwest,” one of just four holes selected each year by the Northwest’s largest and longest-running golf publication.

British Columbia golf resorts that rely heavily on tourist traffic are hoping the provincial government will soon give the all-clear for non-essential travel.

“The golf course is in great shape, the bears are running around like crazy,” says Alan Kristmanson, the longtime general manager and director of golf at Whistler Golf Club. “Everybody who is playing here is having a great time. We’re ready, for sure.”

A Drawing Prepared In 1990 To Illustrate How The Completed Community At Furry Creek Might Appear One Day

"How would you like to design Carmel North?" This was the question posed by a real estate agent at Colliers International late one Friday afternoon in 1990.

The next day, he introduced me to representatives of Tanabe Corporation of Japan, who retained my planning and real estate consulting firm to carry out a Due Diligence study for approximately 1,000 acres of land along the Sea-to-Sky Corridor at Furry Creek.

We were given just two weeks to assess the feasibility of accommodating a new golf course, 1000 housing units, a marina and a resort. At the time, all I could think of was Terry Jacks and the Save the Howe Sound Society; and having just come off a dramatic highly publicized failure trying to rezone the 753 acre Spetifore Lands, I did not want to be associated with another high profile failure.
