• BC's Stuart Macdonald Back In The Hunt For PGA TOUR Card After Playoff Loss In Mexico

By Brad Ziemer, British Columbia Golf

(May 6, 2025) - Golf has a way of testing a player’s resolve and Stuart Macdonald is proud of the way he handled a stretch where he had been playing well but not seeing much in the way of tangible results.

Heading into last week’s Tulum Championship in Mexico on the Korn Ferry Tour, Macdonald had made six of his previous seven cuts but had finished no better than a tie for 56th.

Macdonald stayed patient and positive, feeling he was close to breaking through. Turns out he was right.

Maxim McKenzie had five birdies in his final round at the NextGen Pacific Championship, but it was one particular par that stood out. “I made a 30-foot putt for par on 11 and that one felt good,” said McKenzie. “That kind of kept the momentum going.”

The 17-year-old Chilliwack resident closed with an impressive four-under 66 at Abbotsford’s Ledgeview Golf Club to win the Junior Boys division by three shots over Nanaimo’s Manpreet Lalh.

“It feels really good,” McKenzie said. “I am definitely very proud of the way I played. I was solid this week, stayed patient and stuck to my game plan.”

With February well underway, the 2025 golf season in British Columbia is fast approaching, and we at British Columbia Golf are thrilled for the year ahead. We hope you’re just as excited!

We’ve received a lot of feedback suggesting there’s interest in a Men’s Series, so we’re excited to bring it to life this year!

For a good chunk of his PGA TOUR career, Nick Taylor flew under the radar. He was known as a steady, not spectacular, player who quietly went about his business.

Not anymore. Taylor has developed a flair for the dramatic. The bigger the moment, the better he plays. And when he gets in contention, Taylor just hits one clutch shot after another.

He did it again on a magical Sunday on the island of Oahu where Taylor chipped in for eagle on the 72nd hole and then beat Nico Echavarria of Colombia on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff to win the Sony Open in Hawaii.
