LAWTON, Okla. (Oct. 23, 2018) – Oklahoma Christian's Abigail Rigsby played brilliantly at Lawton Country Club, but she still needed to put on a steely display of endurance in a four-hole playoff for medalist honors.

The junior from Courtenay, British Columbia, capped her final-round 1-under-par 70 with her second career playoff win to take top honors in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate, leading the 15th-ranked Lady Eagles to a runner-up team finish in the 12-team event.

Roger Sloan wasn’t born Yesterday. Of course he knows who the Beatles are. Sloan, the 32-year-old Merritt product who is wrapping up a successful season on the PGA TOUR, laughs when the subject of the Fab Four is broached. “That is a funny story,” Sloan says.

It was at the John Deere Classic earlier this month when CBS golf analyst Peter Kostis suggested on air that Sloan, who was in contention that week, didn’t really know anything about John, Paul, Ringo and George. Sloan says that could not be further from the truth.

A group of Canadian hopefuls has been looking to advance through one of five Web.com Tour qualifying events across the United States from Oct. 30 – Nov. 9.

Field sizes at each event are approximately 75 players with no cut. The number of applicants advancing from each site will be on a pro rata basis (i.e., approximately the same percentage from each site will advance), and such number will be announced during the Second Qualifying Stage.

All applicants tying for the last qualifying position at the conclusion of play at each site will advance.

Tacoma, Wash. – For the seventh time in Northwest golf history, the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) and the Pacific Northwest Section PGA (PNWPGA) will conduct a joint Hall of Fame ceremony to honor inductees from each organization. This combined Pacific Northwest Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held at Seattle (Wash.) Golf Club on April 27, 2024.

Their respective Halls of Fame recognize those who have distinguished themselves through outstanding playing accomplishments as well as contributions to the game in the region.

Being inducted this year for the PNGA are Shelly Stouffer of Nanoose Bay, B.C..; Dr. Jack Lamey of Bellevue, Wash.; and Bon Stein of Seattle, Wash. The PNWPGA will be inducting Doug Doxsie of Issaquah, Wash.

To say Shelly Stouffer was looking forward to her singles match with Oregon’s Lara Tennant at the PNGA Lamey Cup would be something of an understatement. 

Quite simply, it was a match Stouffer had wanted since learning she would be a part of Team British Columbia at the 15th playing of the Lamey Cup at Bellingham Golf & Country Club. 

On Thursday, Stouffer got her wish and delivered in a big way, defeating Tennant 4&3 in cool, wet conditions. “She’s the three-time reigning U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur champion,” Stouffer said after her win. “Why wouldn’t you want to play her?”

Yu, a junior from Vancouver, B.C., has played in all nine tournaments this season and has a scoring average of 74.19. His best finish was 26th place at the Desert Mountain Collegiate and his best score was a 3-under 68 in the first round at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.

WACO, Texas (April 27, 2017) – Oklahoma Christian freshman Abigail Rigsby was named Thursday to the All-Heartland Conference women's golf second-team honor list.

Risgby, from Courtenay, British Columbia, was the Lady Eagles' most consistent player during the 2016-17 season, posting four top-10 finishes, including an eighth-place showing last week at the Heartland Conference Championship at Apple Rock Golf Course in Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Hudson Swafford won the fittingly named CareerBuilder Challenge on Sunday for his first PGA TOUR title, following three straight birdies with a closing par for a one-stroke victory.

Swafford shot a 5-under 67 on the Stadium Course at PGA West to finish the three-course, pro-am event at 20-under 268. Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C.,came back with a 70 after his third-round 59 to finish second.

STOCKTON, Calif. – Simon Fraser junior Chris Crisologo, who won four tournaments this year, has been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II West/South Central Super Regional, which will be held this year in Stockton, California.

The tournament will be held on May 8-10 at the Brookside Golf Course in Stockton. The tournament features 20 teams and eight individuals with 10 teams from the West Region and 10 teams from the South Central Region.

MAZATLAN, Mexico — West Vancouver, B.C., native David Rose shot a final-round 70 to claim medallist honours and earn full status on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica in 2016.

The 26-year-old began the day with a two-stroke lead over American William Kropp. Rose finished at 15-under, posting under par scores all four days to claim a one-stroke victory over Mexico’s Gerardo Ruiz. Rose – a former Lynn University Fighting Knight and the 2011 B.C. Amateur champion – becomes the second Canadian in as many weeks to finish atop the leaderboard at PGA Tour Latinoamérica Q-School.

Walla Walla, Wash. - Brad Karns of Vancouver, Wash. shot 1-under par in the final round to win the 30th Washington State Senior Men's Amateur Championship; while Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C. went wire-to-wire in capturing the 9th Washington State Super Senior Men's Amateur. This is the second title for Lindbjerg, having also won this championship in 2014.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman Mary Parsons set a new school single round score of 66 in the third round as Indiana Women's Golf finished seventh overall at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational on Saturday.

Parsons's third round score was one stroke better than the previous school record which was set five previous times, most recently in 2015 by Ana Sanjuan and Camille Chevalier (67).

VENICE, Fla. – Four Canadians were among 84 competitors that advanced to Stage III of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament on Sunday at the Plantation Golf & Country Club.

Megan Osland of Kelowna, B.C., led all 10 Canadians in the field, finishing at 5-over par (72-72-73-76) to grab a share of 30th. Team Canada graduate and Calgary product Jennifer Ha was the next Canadian in line, closing at 7-over par (69-71-79-76) to end in a tie for 47th.
