BC Golf Championship Operations Assistant Position Opportunity
OPPORTUNITY
Title: Championship Operations Assistant
Reports to: Tournament Director, Championships
Location: British Columbia Golf Office / Remote (hybrid)
Status: Contract / Paid Internship
Ideal Start Date: May 1, 2023 (possibility of earlier start date)
End Date: September 1, 2023
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Support the Tournament Director in all aspects of the championship season.
- Maintain the British Columbia Titleist Order of Merit
- Maintain championships websites and tournament pages, updating as required.
- Monitor distribution of prizing and tee gifts.
- Report championship results to WAGR, Golf Canada, and other organizations.
- Assist players with Golf Genius registration, invoicing, and special requests.
- Assist with media and public relations tasks (capturing content, facilitating interviews, etc.).
- Assist with tournament set-up, preparation, and tear down of equipment at host club
- Assist with on-site support to host club volunteers.
- Monitor equipment, signage and supplies inventory, maintenance and replenishment.
- Provide an end-of-season report on progress as Championship Operations Assistant.
- Deliver customer excellence to all partners, volunteers, players, and participating host club staff.
- Represent British Columbia Golf in a professional manner at all times.
- Other duties or special assignments as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:
- Current University and/or College student.
- Willingness to work flexible work hours and during inclement weather conditions.
- Must have an interest to travel and spend multiple weeks away from home at a time.
- Willingness to endure physical labour (ex: heavy lifting) on daily basis.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with staff, volunteers, stakeholders and the public in a pleasant and professional manner.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment.
- Highly motivated individual with resiliency under pressure.
- Positive attitude with the ability to self-start and take an active leadership role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Golf knowledge or experience is not required but considered an asset.
Note: The British Columbia Golf’s regular hours of work are 35 hours per week, namely Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) and 5 days a week including a one-hour lunch. However, the demands of your position may require working varied and irregular hours and may include working weekends and/or holidays to meet the objectives of your employment. Compensating time off will be provided during non-tournament weeks. Wage: $16-18 per hour depending on experience.
