Tyler McKay Announced As New Manager, Golf Participation For British Columbia Golf
May 8th, 2017 (Richmond, BC) - British Columbia Golf is pleased to announce the addition of Tyler McKay to their staff as the new Manager, Golf Participation for BC Golf. Tyler will assume his role with BC Golf commencing on Thursday, May 18th, 2017.
Tyler will be responsible for managing current 'grow the game' initiatives within British Columbia Golf such as Future Links, Playground 2 Fairway (P2F), SOAR and Golf In Schools and will also be working with the Allied Golf Association to promote all grow the game initiatives.
"I am very excited about the opportunities and challenges that will come with BC Golf. I think we have a great chance to really grow the game in BC and I can't wait to start doing so,” said McKay.
McKay comes to British Columbia Golf as a recent graduate of Lindenwood University in Saint Charles, Missouri, with a degree in Business Administration. McKay attended Lindenwood by virtue of a golf scholarship making the school’s ‘Dean’s List’ every semester as well as receiving NCAA Academic honours each year.
McKay hails from Rossland/Trail, BC and has been involved in golf from a very early age including being a member at Birchbank Golf Course since he was six-years old.
He has competed in British Columbia Golf and Golf Canada events since the age of 10 and cites competing in the NCAA midwest-regional during his freshman year as a personal highlight.
McKay has also put together a strong background in the golf industry working at Birchbank GC for five years between the ages of 15 and 20. In addition to his involvement with golf, McKay also officiated minor hockey in Trail as well as holding jobs at the Rossland Museum and Ferraro Foods.
British Columbia Golf Executive Director Kris Jonasson welcomed McKay to his new role with the organization, saying, “Tyler will be a great addition to the administration of golf in British Columbia. His academic accomplishments make him well suited to fulfill the position and coupled with youthful passion we have no doubt he will be successful.”
