Mackenzie Hughes was the story this week making a big jump up the world rankings thanks to his first win on the PGA TOUR.

BC players continue to occupy top spots in the country's rankings as well, led by Kimberley's Jared du Doit and Victoria's Naomi Ko.

MEN’S TOP-10

Some technical difficulties meant the full men’s world rankings were not available this week. Provisional rankings were produced for the Top 300 in the world and they show there is new No. 1 ranked golfer in Canada.

Mackenzie Hughes made the biggest gain among the Top-10 after claiming his first career victory in only his ninth career start on the PGA Tour. The Team Canada Young Pro Squad member climbed 177 spots up to 110th in the world, replacing David Hearn as the No. 1 ranked player in Canada.

Along with the two-year Tour exemption – and the million dollar payday for winning the RSM Classic in a playoff – Hughes will also get to fulfill a childhood dream of playing with fellow Canadian Mike Weir at the Masters in the spring.

Hearn slipped seven spots, down to 149th in the world while No 3 Graham DeLaet fell five places down to 183. No. 4 Adam Hadwin lost six places, down to 187 in the world.

Austin Connelly, the 16th ranked golfer in Canada, just missed on earning his European Tour card for 2017, coming up just one stroke shy in the six round qualifying tournament.

The 18-year-old also confirmed that sister Brittany would continue to caddy for her next year on the tour.
