COURTENAY, British Columbia (Nov. 17, 2015) – Abigail Rigsby, who won a provincial title in her native country of Canada, has signed a letter of intent to play college golf at Oklahoma Christian, OC women's coach Greg Lynn said Tuesday.

Rigsby, from Courtenay, took top honors in August in the British Columbia Juvenile Girls Championship at Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club in Vernon, B.C., shooting a course-record 6-under-par 65 in the final round to post a three-shot win.

That performance came after she finished tied for 17th in the Canadian Junior Girls Championship.

"Abi is a very talented young lady," Lynn said. "She has the potential to be as good as anyone we have ever signed. She's very disciplined with goals that I believe she will accomplish."

She's the second player to sign with OC for the 2016-17 academic year, joining Ashton Nemecek of Purcell, Okla.

In its fifth season of competition – and its first as a full NCAA Division II member – OC already has forged a strong tradition in women's golf. The Lady Eagles won three events last spring, including taking the unofficial team title in the Heartland Conference Championship.

The Lady Eagles were 39th in Division II in the Golfstat.com Relative Ranking after the fall 2015 season – one of five Heartland teams in the top 40.
