Team British Columbia Leads All Championships In Wood Buffalo

Team British Columbia is leading all four golf competitions at the Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, AB after the first round of competition on Friday.
In the women’s individual competition, Surrey’s Hannah Lee leads after shooting 72, with teammates Tiffany Kong and Alisha Lau tied for second, just one stroke back.
Shirin Anjarwalla is in fifth place after shooting 76, with only Saskatchewan’s Brooke Hobson, at 74, able to break the BC girls’ stranglehold at the top of the leaderboard.
In the women’s team competition, BC holds a commanding 32-stroke lead over Team Alberta with only one round left to play in this 36-hole competition. BC sits at 218, while Alberta is at 250 and Manitoba at 254 and Saskatchewan at 256 trailing even further behind.
In the men’s individual competition, BC’s AJ Ewart, coming off a strong finish at the Canadian Junior Boys Championship, leads in Wood Buffalo after his opening round 71. Tayden Wallin of Saskatchewan is second at 74, while the rest of the BC players are Tristan Mandur, T4 after his 76, Keenan Flemming 10th at 78 and Khan Lee 12th at 80.
Team BC leads the 36-hole men’s team competition by five strokes, as their 225 score is holding off the 230 scores of Manitoba and Alberta, with Saskatchewan another three strokes back at 233.
The team competition will finish on Saturday, while the 54-hole individual competition goes until Sunday.
