Kelowna, B.C.’s Megan Osland was co-medalist to help the San Jose State women's golf team win the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational at the Almaden Golf & Country Club held February 23-24th.
It was the second title of the year for Osland, who was tied for third heading into the final round before firing a two-under 70, making four birdies and 12 pars during her round.
Her other title was the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Palm Desert California in September where she won by 7 strokes. Megan is in her senior year at California State University – San Jose and is majoring in Recreation Management.
SJSU rallied from a rough start, fourth after the first day, to win its own tournament for the first time since 2007.
My Leander and Kathleen Rojas also helped fuel the strong finish by both shooting par (72) in the final round.
Leander finished third, two strokes behind Osland and Cal State Fullerton's Martina Edberg, and Rojas was tied for 29th. Regan De Guzman finished tied for 12th.
"This took a total team effort today," SJSU coach John Dormann said. "We made 17 birdies on the round. Megan and My did great for us today, and Kathleen and Regan kept us in contention with their play. I am really happy for us."
