PGA of BC Names Provincial Recipients Of 2022 Awards

OCTOBER 13, 2022 - RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia) - The PGA of BC proudly named the provincial recipients of its annual honours for 2022 during the Association's Awards Celebration presented by Replay Golf Supplies & Tribal on Wednesday evening at the River Rock Casino Resort.

Recipients were announced for the following 11 awards during the course of the evening's festivities:

  • Dick Munn Golf Professional of the Year presented by Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House - Nathan Grieve, Talking Rock Golf Course
  • Cec Ferguson Executive Professional of the Year presented by Fresh Golf Solutions - Padraic O'Rourke, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club
  • Fred Wood Class "A" Professional of the Year presented by adidas Golf - Cody Bell, Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club
  • Jock McKinnon Apprentice Professional of the Year presented by Srixon/Cleveland Golf/XXIO - Bradley Gagnon, The Springs at Radium
  • Jack Westover Coach of the Year presented by Maui Jim & Zeal Optics - Clay Stothers, The Okanagan Golf Club
  • Golf Facility of the Year presented by Replay Golf Supplies - Talking Rock Golf Course
  • Herb Paterson Sales Representative of the Year presented by TD Bank Group - Mark Lindsay, Nielsen Agencies
  • Ben Colk Golf Shop of the Year presented by 2UNDR - Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club
  • Alvie Thompson Teacher of the Year presented by Axis Insurance - Nathan Leonhardt, Par-Tee Golf
  • Davie Black Professional Development Award presented by Dexim Golfwear - Cindy Soukoroff, St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino
  • Jack McLaughlin Junior Golf Leader of the Year presented by COBRA PUMA Golf - Michelle McCann, Uplands Golf Club

The recipients of the following six awards, who were previously named by the PGA of BC earlier this month, were also honoured during the event:

  • Jim Gibson Patron of the Year - Axis Insurance
  • PGA of BC Media Personnel of the Year - ALS Society of BC
  • Distinguished Service Award presented by Accent Inns - Patrick Lago, Lago Golf Academy
  • Stan Leonard Player of the Year presented by Kal Tire - Zach Olson, Chilliwack Golf Club
  • PGA of BC Community Leadership Bursary - Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club
  • Jim Gibson Scholarship - Alec Hubert, Kamloops Golf & Country Club

As well, the Awards Celebration featured a special presentation from the ALS Society of British Columbia, honouring the efforts of PGA of BC Professionals who participated in this year's Golfathon for ALS across the province. In 2022, the initiative raised $228,500, bringing the 17-year cumulative total to over $2.5 million raised to support individuals and families affected by ALS.

Additionally, the BC chapter of the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada's Fore Season Golf Professional Award was presented to Talking Rock Head Professional Nathan Grieve during the festivities.
