Meet British Columbia Golf's 3 New Directors

Following the recently completed Annual General Meeting, British Columbia Golf would like to welcome the three newest members of their Board.

Now on 'Board' as directors are Shayain Gustavsp, Joe Higgins and Michael Cook. Each brings with them a unique set of skills and experience that will only add to the quality of the existing Board Members. Below you'll find short bios of each of the new directors.

Shayain Gustavsp, Director

Aside from being a certified LPGA Teaching and Club Professional since 2018, Shayain has nine years of experience providing corporate sponsorship, premium sales & hospitality, customer service and specialized event planning for high net worth individuals in the United Kingdom, Spain, the U.S. and Canada. She is a specialist with a proven track record in a variety of sport industries including EPL, LaLiga, NBA, NFL, NHL & USTA. Joe Higgins 

With over 25 years of experience, Joe is an accomplished, internationally recognized coach for both men's and women's teams representing Canada in wheelchair basketball at the World Championship and Paralympic levels. His work with Paralympic athletes has resulted in gold medals for Canadian wheelchair athletes since the early 1990's. Joe has also been honoured with awards at the Provincial, National and International level with his skills seeing him oversee training for high performance athletes not only in Canada but for programs in countries around the globe. 

Michael Cook 

Michael spent many years involved with law enforcement as a corrections officer at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre and also held security roles at various venues. He's put together a strong volunteer record including time as a youth basketball coach, Cub and Scout leader and supporter of the Firefighter's Burn Fund of Victoria. During this stretch he has been a constant contributor to the game of golf in British Columbia with BC Golf Zones 5 and 6 junior programs and has been a BC Golf Rules official since 2009.
