Position: Manager Field Operations / Tournament Director (full-time)

Position Summary: British Columbia Golf is seeking candidates for the position of Manager Field Operations / Tournament Director
The primary function of the Rules and Competion department is to organize and conduct all British Columbia Golf Amateur Championships.
The Manager Field Operations / Tournament Director supports this function through the negotiation, setup and delivery of each event. This individual also acts as a resource available to golfers and member facilities providing interpretations and answers related to the rules of golf and rules of handicapping.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and update tournaments using the BlueGolf Management System
- Coordinate with host clubs to confirm all relevant details pertaining to each tournament, including pre-event meetings and communications with club staff and key volunteer officials
- Build Duty Roster of tournament officials
- Secure accommodation for tournament officials
- Set up player accommodation options
- Create and distribute tournament pairings, Memorandum to Players and other essential information to players, host club staff, tournament officials and other volunteers
- Preparation of all tournament related documents
- Purchase materials, supplies, prizing for each provincial championship
- Secure appropriate venues for future championships
- Equipment organization, upkeep and purchasing
- Attend each championship, with duties to include:
- Course setup, course marking, notice to players, and volunteer assignments
- Prepare tournament related materials for players and volunteers
- Oversee the storage, transport, setup and maintenance of tournament supplies
- Provide support in starting, scoring, pace of play and the Rules
- Serve as Tournament Director responsible for conducting the championship
Other Duties include
- Scheduling and conducting Rules of Golf workshops and seminars
- Scheduling and conducting Rules of Handicapping workshops and seminars
- Provide support to clubs and membership with Rules of Golf and Rules of Handicapping related questions
- Update and maintain Provincial Order of Merit standings
- Updating of club operation manuals as required
- Such other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
- Highly organized, disciplined and dependable
- Ability to work with no supervision
- Experience in golf tournament administration
- Experience in administering the Rules of Golf. Must within a reasonable time period attain and then maintain Golf Canada Level 3 (National) Rules certification
- Must be personable and able to work with players, volunteers and club staff
- Excellent communicator (written, verbal, telephone) with strong public relations and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills
- Extensive physical activity, including ability to lift heavy items (75+ lbs)
- A willingness to travel throughout the province, with the expected travel of 70 - 90 days per year, with overnight stays, work on weekend, and extended hours throughout the day
- Good driving record and the confidence to haul a14’ tournament trailer
Direct Report: CEO British Columbia Golf
The successful candidate will report to the CEO and work closely with the Chair of the Championship Committee as well as a stable of fully trained volunteer referees and tournament officials.
A close working relationship with the Managing Director, Player Development and the Manager Network Service will also be established.
