Victoria’s Lawren Rowe Made The Biggest Gain In The Weekly Top 10 Golf Rankings

MEN’S AMATEUR TOP-10
Lawren Rowe made the biggest gain among the Top-10, picking up 40 places in the world rankings after posting a wire-to-wire victory at the CSUSM Fall Classic. Rowe opened with a 67 for the low round of the day and followed it up with back-to-back rounds of par to win by eight strokes. It was his second collegiate victory of the season and the third team title for the Vikes. The No. 4 ranked amateur in Canada has also recorded Top-10 results in his other two events this fall.
Joey Savoie, the No. 6 ranked amateur in Canada, gained 19 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 7th at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational. It was his second Top-10 result in the last three events for the Quebec golfer, who is ranked second on Middle Tennessee’s golf squad when it comes to stroke average.
Outside the Top-10, Vincent Blanchette returns to the Top-20 after making a six place gain in the world rankings over the past week.
Biggest move: Kevin Gordon gained 657 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for fourth at the Old Dominion OBX Collegiate. The sophomore from Whitby, Ont., shot a school record score for 54 holes in helping the University of Nebraska Omaha to a ninth place finish overall. His 54 hole total of 208 eclipsed his career-best score by eight strokes.

WOMEN’S AMATEUR TOP-10
Sophie Liu made one of the biggest moves of the week, picking up 168 spots in the world rankings to move back into the Top-10 after finishing in a tie for 25th at The Landfall Tradition. The freshman from Vancouver recorded her career-best round to date, 71, and her total of 221 was also a career-low for 54 holes. Liu climbed from No. 12 all the way up to No. 7 in the Canadian rankings.
Grace St-Germain picked up 16 places in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 8th at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.
Top ranked Maddie Szeryk posted her third consecutive Top-10 result this fall, finishing ninth at the UTSA Maryb S. Kauth Invitational. That moved the Golf Canada National Team Squad member up two places to No. 35 in the world rankings.
Alyssa Getty made her return to the Top-20 after picking up 102 places in the world rankings to move up to No. 17 in Canada. The sophomore from Ruthven, Ont., who plays her golf at UNLV, finished a career-best tied for seventh at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
Biggest Move: Jisoo Keel gained 260 spots in the world rankings to move back into the Top-20 after finishing in a tie for 23rd at the Nanea PAC 12 Preview. It was her second Top-25 result for the senior at Stanford, who took the past two years off from playing collegiate golf.

MEN’S TOP-10
Graham DeLaet gained nine spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for eighth at the PGA’s Sanderson Farms Championship. The result was worth 3.60 world ranking points and it was the first Top-10 result for the No. 2 ranked golfer in Canada since July.
Mackenzie Hughes made the biggest gain among the Top-10, picking up 13 places in the world rankings after finishing tied for 26th at the PGA’s Sanderson Farms Championship. It was his second straight result in as many starts since earning his PGA Tour card. The result was worth 1.21 world ranking points.
Nick Taylor, the No. 6 ranked golfer in Canada, finished in a tie for 23rd at PGA’s Sanderson Farms Championship, an event he won back in 2014. The result was worth 1.35 world ranking points and moved him up six places in the world rankings. It’s his first Top-25 result since June.
This week Mike Weir is not among the Top-35 ranked pro golfers in Canada. The 2003 Masters champion, who at one time was ranked at high as No. 3 in the world, lost 7.39 world ranking points which dropped him down to 1,877th in the world. Weir last played in a professional tournament back on August 14th. He has either withdrawn or missed the cut in all 13 events entered in 2016 and has not recorded a result in the last 29 tournaments played.
Other notable results: No.5 Brad Fritsch finished tied 29th at PGA Sanderson Farms Championship; No. 7 Corey Conners finished tied for 45th at Latinoamerica Tour Colombia Classic.

WOMEN’S TOP 10
Brooke Henderson, the top ranked female player in Canada, slipped another spot in the world rankings down to No. 6. The 18-year-old finished in a tie for 63rd at the LPGA’s Sime Darby event in Malaysia.
Maude-Aimee Leblanc was the only player in the Top-10 to make a positive gain in the world ranking, picking up one spot after finishing in a tie for 43rd at the LPGA’s Sime Darby Malaysian event.
Other Notable Results: No. 2 Alena Sharp finished tied for 55th at LPGA Sime Darby Malaysia.
