Bellingham, WA - Talk about a great start, the SFU Clan women's golf team are now two-for-two to start the 2016-17 campaign, as they shot a combined 24-over-par 608 (303, 305) to take first place at the Western Washington Invitational on Tuesday, still fresh off last weekend's win at Saint Martin's.
Belinda Lin led SFU, finishing third in the individual rankings with a three-over 149 (75, 74).
Remarkably, all five Clan teammates ended the two-day competition inside the top 16, with Emily Leung ending the two-day competition in a tie for eighth on a six-over 152, while Jaya Rampuri finished with a seven-over 153 (74,79) and earned a solo eleventh-place finish.
Breanna Coxen (T-14th) and Erin Farner (T-16th) weren't far behind, finishing the tournament with a nine-over 155 (78, 77) and 10-over 156 (78, 78).
SFU was the only program from which every player finished in the top 20. Kat Kennedy of the UBC Thunderbirds and Sammy Walters of the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets tied for first place, scoring even 146s (75-71 for Kennedy, 72-74 for Walters).
As for the team as a whole, the Clan bested the Thunderbirds by a five stroke advantage (27-over), 613.
Simon Fraser will look to sweep their fall schedule starting next Tuesday, October 17, as they head down to the Concordia Cavaliers' home in Portland, Oregon for the Concordia Invite.
