OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Simon Fraser University women’s golf team won the rain-shortened Saint Martin’s University that concluded Saturday at the Olympia Golf & Country Club. It was the team’s first tournament of the season.
Simon Fraser claimed the title with a team-score 479 after weather conditions on the final day of the women's golf tournament forced the round be cut to nine holes on Saturday.
Due to the constant rain the final holes of play for the teams were unplayable and the final nine holes of play canceled. The tournament went down to 27-holes.
SFU shot a 323 in the first round and 156 in round two on the 5,800-yard par 73 course. Host SMU finished tied for second with Concordia with a team-score 489. SMU had a 330 in the first round and 159 in round two, while CU had a 323 in the first round and 166 in the final round.
