B.C.’s du Toit Remains At The Top Of Weekly Rankings

Jared du Toit’s performance at the RBC Canadian Open vaulted him 35 spots in the world rankings to a career-high No. 25 in the world. It was only his second career professional tournament and the University of Arizona senior finished two shots ahead of World No. 1 Jason Day and just two back of former teammate and former top-ranked amateur Jon Rahm. Du Toit captured the Gary Cowan Medal as Low Amateur as a result of his finish

Garrett Rank, a former top-ranked amateur in Canada, gained 13 places in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 77th at the RBC Canadian Open.

Andrew Harrison moved back into the Top-20 with a 32-place gain in the world rankings. He is coming off a third-place finish at the Alberta Amateur.

Biggest move: Allan McDonald gained 1,425 spots in the world rankings after finishing third at the Manitoba Men’s Amateur Championship. The result means he will represent the province in the Willingdon Cup portion of the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship scheduled for next month.

Golf Canada National Team member Naomi Ko gained 18 places in the world rankings and moved up to No. 3 in Canada after finishing runner-up at the Pacific Northwest Amateur Championship.

Promising junior Selena Costabile made her Top-10 debut, climbing one place in the world rankings to take over the No. 10 spot in Canada.

Biggest Move: Allison Chandler made her Top-20 debut by climbing 374 spots to take over the No. 16 spot in Canada after winning the Nova Scotia Junior Championship. That win followed her victory at the CN Future Links Atlantic Championship.

Jared du Toit made quite an impression in his first career PGA TOUR event. Calling it a life-changing experience, the Kimberley, B.C., native finished in a tie for ninth at the RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ont. Through three rounds, the Arizona State senior showed he belonged on the big stage alongside the PGA TOUR pros, staying atop the leaderboard and starting the final day just one shot off the lead. Du Toit, a member of Golf Canada’s National Team, missed the cut in his very first professional tournament earlier this year – the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada’s Dakota Dunes Open. His performance at Canada’s National Open Championship was worth 6.21 world ranking points, vaulting him from 1,830th in the world to 809th – a climb of 1,032 spots, leaving him as the No. 16th ranked player in Canada.

No. 3 Adam Hadwin finished tied for 49th at the RBC Canadian Open, which was worth 1.20 world ranking points. It was his fourth points-paying finish in his last six tournaments.

Other notable results: No. 8 Corey Conners finished 80th at RBC Canadian Open, while No. 1 David Hearn, No. 2 Graham DeLaet, No. 4 Brad Fritsch and No. 5 Nick Taylor missed the cut. No. 7 Adam Svensson finished tied for 21st at Web.com Tour Utah Championship, while No. 10 Taylor Pendrith finished 30th and No.9 Albin Choi was forced to withdraw.

Augusta James gained 10 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 3rd at the in Michigan. James carded a second round 65, which was a course-record, until it was bettered by one stroke by the eventual winner of the weather-shortened event. It was James’ best result of the season and her fourth Top-10 result this year. The finish was good enough for a 10-spot climb in the world rankings for the No. 5-ranked golfer in Canada.

Jennifer Ha, one of the top amateurs in Canada, made her debut in the Canadian pro rankings, slotting in at No. 16 after finishing in a tie for seventh in Michigan. It was her best career result on the development tour.

Other Notable Results: No. 6 Sue Kim finished tied for 30th at the Symetra Tour’s FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, while No. 7 Anne-Catherine Tanguay finished tied 23rd, No. 9 Sara-Maude Juneau recorded a T40 and No. 8 Jessica Wallace and No. 4 Samantha Richdale missed the cut.
