Michelle Kim Nominated For Sport BC Junior Female Athlete Of The Year Award
Michelle Kim of Surrey has been nominated for the Sport BC Junior Female Athlete of The Year Award.
Kim, who had a summer to remember with 4 significant victories and is the number one ranked junior female golfer in Canada, will find out on March 10, 2016 whether she will be adding another honour to her name.
Included in her list of accomplishments this past summer were wins in the BC Junior Girls, BC Women's Amateur, CJGA Western Canadian Junior Girls and the Canadian Junior Girls Championships.
She also had a 2nd place finish in the CN Furture Links Prairie Championship, was 38th in the Canadian Women's Amateur, T43 in the Australian Women's Amateur, came 14th in the Porter Cup, Qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur and was recently named to Team Canada's Women's National Program.
A Freshman at the University of Idaho, Kim picked up conference Player of the Week honours three times in four tournaments during one stretch, earning the admiration and high praise from her coach Lisa Johnson saying, "She has transitioned to college well and is building off the experience she gained this past summer at national events.”
Kim was nominated by British Columbia Golf President David Atkinson and Kris Jonasson, Executive Director of British Columbia Golf. The 2015 winner was golfer Naomi Ko of Victoria.
