A full field has assembled in Osoyoos at the Park Meadows Course for the British Columbia Junior Boys' Championship Presented by Canadian Direct Insurance.
The 72-hole tournament kicks off Tuesday with many contenders ready to win their first British Columbia Golf trophy of 2015. Defending champion Keaton Gudz of Victoria will tee it up at 8:50 a.m. off the 10th tee with Brody Anjo and Ely Overennay.
Gudz, now playing out of Royal Colwood, will be hoping to go back-to-back after his one-stroke victory at Meadow Gardens in Pitt Meadows last year.
Another player to watch is 2014 runner-up Trevor Yu of Marine Drive, who was recently profiled in Howard Tsumura’s Head of the Class – Class of 2015 section.
Yu is playing with Carson Arcuri and Noah Guise, with a 9 a.m. tee time off the first tee. The BC Junior Boys' Championship is open to 156 amateur males aged 18 and under as of August 1. Players must be exempt or qualify from their zone to play in this tournament.
Other players to watch include Diego San Pedro of Shaughnessy, who’s off the 10th tee at 10 a.m. with Henry Lee and Jake Lane; Roy Kang of Seymour and A.J. Ewart of Pitt Meadows, who tee off at 9:20 a.m. off the 10th tee with Logan Yanick of Crown Isle; and Alex Francois of Shaughnessy and Khan Lee of Northview at 9:30 a.m. off the 10th tee with Callum Davison of Pheasant Glen.
Osoyoos Golf Club brings together ideal desert climate and picturesque golf with two full-length courses boasting the longest season in the Okanagan. The Park Meadows course, which is hosting the BC Junior Boys, is a pleasurable resort course that is walker friendly amidst a park-like setting.
Perched high above the Town of Osoyoos and sculpted in the environs of a desert mountainside, golfers will be rewarded by precision shot making and captivated by views of Osoyoos and its surrounding orchards, vineyards, and Lake Osoyoos below.
