Canada’s only hope at the 2015 US Open, Edmonton’s Brad Fritsch, had a passable weekend effort, shooting back-to-back rounds of (+2) 72 to finish the tournament at (+8).

Fritsch, who now calls North Carolina home, is still connected to Canada via his sponsorship deal with the Ottawa Senators, had bogeys on his first and 4th holes before birdies on 8 and 12 had him back to even for the day heading into his final six holes.

But three bogeys and only a birdie on the par-5 18th awaited Fritsch as he completed his first 72-hole U.S. Open.

Fritsch took to Twitter to give his thoughts on his tournament and they ranged from adding the comment “Whoa Nelly” to tweets from Billy Horschel and Chris Kirk criticizing the greens at Chambers Bay to 6 separate comments about various aspects of his week in the Pacific Northwest.

On an overall front, Fritsch said: “Thanks to all for the encouragement, mentions, and cheering this week. Canadians are super-proud of their own! And it's much appreciated.”

On looking back at the entire week: “All in all, a fun week here at Chambers Bay. It's such a different style of golf, and very taxing on the mind. Have to accept bad breaks.”

On guys complaining about the greens and set-up: “For all the crap about the greens, there's still guys making putts . . . and for all the yelling about ‘setup,’ there were maybe 2 or 3 tees that I thought shouldn't have been used at the time.

Fritsch said the USGA listened to players about a tough course set up: “USGA actually made the course easier with the setup throughout week. #16 tee today, for example. #17 yesterday as well.”

And if the U.S. Open does come back to Chambers Bay, Fritsch will be the first guy to sign up: “If (USGA) chooses to come back here, I’ll gladly attend. Thanks in advance.”

David Hearn was the only other Canadian to make the U.S. Open field at Chambers Bay, but after shooting (+7) 147 in his opening two rounds, he missed the cut by two strokes.
