Quilchena Golf &Country Club To Host 2025 BC Junior Boys Championship

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, BRITISH COLUMBIA GOLF

RICHMOND, B.C. (November 19, 2024) - Quilchena Golf & Country Club in Richmond has been selected by BC Golf as the host site for the 2025 Junior Boys Championship from July 7th to July 11th, 2025.

“We are excited to celebrate Quilchena’s 100th year anniversary with hosting the BC Junior Boys at this storied golf course,” said Jerome Goddard, BC Golf Director of Rules & Competitions. “Quilchena’s premium layout and superb conditioning will present an excellent test for our Province’s best Junior Boys.

The Club was founded on August 4th, 1925, at King Edward and 33rd Avenue on the edge of Vancouver. In 1956, the Club moved to its now home in Richmond, to a site that features views of the ocean and the snow-capped Coast Mountains.

“Quilchena is both pleased and proud to host the BC Junior Boys event during our Centennial year. It means a lot to be able to showcase our fabulous 'hidden gem' golf course,” said Club President Steve Alb.

The golf course will play at its maximum yardage of 6777 yards. “The players will find a well-kept, fair but challenging layout.  Keeping the ball in the fairway is the key to scoring well along with being aware of the wind coming off the water which is almost always present but sometimes hard to feel on the ground or judge correctly,” said Alb. “The greens roll true with subtle breaks that are difficult to read. Most pin positions will require an approach shot strategically placed to avoid a tough putt.  I expect they will enjoy the experience!.”

Quilchena Golf & Country Club has a strong history of hosting tournaments of excellence, including the Canadian Junior Girls, numerous PGA of BC Championships, the CN Women’s Tour, and a Golf Canada NextGen (formerly Acura FutureLinks) Championship. In 2023, Quilchena hosted the inaugural National Golf League Regional Final.

The BC Junior Boys Championship will be contested over 72 holes of stroke play with a maximum field size of 141 players. The Practice Round will be held on Monday, July 7th and Competitive Rounds are Tuesday, July 8th to Friday, July 11th. Top finishers will qualify for the Canadian Junior Boys in Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club in Bathurst, New Brunswick from August 12-15, 2025.

More information on entry requirements and registration dates will be available in early 2025.
