FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, BRITISH COLUMBIA GOLF
WHISTLER, B.C. (October 31, 2024) - Whistler Golf Club has been selected by BC Golf as the host site for the 2025 Women’s Senior, Super Senior, and Super-Super Senior Championship from June 9th to 12th, 2025.
“BC Golf is thrilled to bring the Women’s Senior Championship to Whistler Golf Club,” said Jerome Goddard, BC Golf Director of Rules & Competitions. “The layout, conditioning, and resort amenities of the Club and surrounding area will be an excellent fit for our players. We are especially thankful to Tourism Whistler for their support in securing and organizing this Championship.”
Whistler Golf Club was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 1983. The Club is within walking distance of the iconic Whistler Village and features broad fairways and mountain views on many holes. The golf course is surrounded by majestic old-growth cedars and firs.
“Whistler Golf Club is thrilled to host the Senior Women’s Championship in June 2025,” said Jason McClean, sales and marketing manager at Whistler Golf Club. “Our dedicated staff and maintenance team are excited to work with the BCGA to prepare the course for this prestigious event. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the mountains for an incredible week of championship golf and local exploration.”
This is Whistler Golf Club’s first Provincial Championship. The British Columbia Women’s Senior has been contested since 1975. BC Golf Hall of Famer Shelly Stouffer is searching for a record sixth consecutive title in the Women’s Senior division.
“As Canada’s premier golf destination, the Whistler Golf Club (WGC) is proud to host this championship tournament for the first time in Whistler,” says Barrett Fisher, President & CEO of Tourism Whistler, which manages and operates the WGC.
“Our partnership with the BC Golf Association will not only showcase our beautiful destination and golf course, but will also support the WGC’s goal to grow the game of golf throughout the province. We eagerly anticipate welcoming the Senior Women for an unforgettable tournament that celebrates and elevates the sport of golf, along with Whistler’s vibrant community.”
The Women’s Senior, Super Senior, and Super-Super Senior Championship will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play with a maximum field size of 80 players. Top finishers will qualify for the Canadian Women’s Senior at Nanaimo Golf Club from August 26th to 28th, 2025.
More information on entry requirements, host hotels, and registration dates will be available in early 2025.
