The annual Coaching Awards are back!

The Coaching Awards recognize two coaches who have made outstanding achievements throughout their coaching careers to #MakeSportBetter in BC. Each recipient awarded truly reflects the highest coaching standards for your organization or club.

Anyone can be a nominator – if you’re a current or former athlete, parent, club or provincial organization representative, or a coach yourself. Nominate a coach you believe helps your organization or club with the development and growth of other coaches or kickstarts performance pathways for athletes. Each coach awarded will receive a bursary of $500 CAD.

You can click the button below to learn more about the resources needed to nominate a coach. The deadline for nominations is March 17.

International Women's Day

March 8 is International Women's Day. It is a global day celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements.

This year, the theme is #InspireInclusion. The theme has inspired us to share the resources we have created to help steward diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in the sport sector. We will also be sharing stories from inspiring Women in the sport community that are helping create a more inclusive and diverse space in the sport community.

Leading up to March 8, join the conversation and #InspireInclusion by raising awareness of the importance of gender equality on our boards. Visit our website for resources to help you and your organization implement and participate in gender equity best practices throughout the year.

Free Bystander Intervention Training!

We all have a responsibility to do something when we see maltreatment happening, but too often, we freeze. Bystander intervention gives us the tools to intervene without compromising our safety.

As sport organizations, we are responsible for leading and contributing to a positive sport culture in BC. We are offering an additional Bystander intervention session so that more PSOs can get the chance to participate. We encourage you to invite your members, staff, and participants to attend our Bystander Intervention in Sport training session on March 27 from 6 to 7:30 pm. Participants will learn practical and safe techniques to intervene the next time they witness harmful behaviour in the sport community.

If members of your organization cannot attend Bystander Intervention Training sessions, we are also offering free Conflict Management Training. These free workshops are for all club members who want to improve their organization's conflict management skills. Have the Executive Director or CEO of your Designated Sport Organization request a session here!I
