    The final round of Final Stage of the Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament wrapped up Sunday afternoon at Whirlwind Golf Club (The Cattail and Devil’s Claw), outside Phoenix, Arizona, with recent University of Virginia graduate Danny Walker capturing medalist honors with a 27-under total for 72 holes.

    Along with Walker, finishers from second through to 40th place and ties received guaranteed starts to kick off the 2019 Web.com Tour season, with Canadians Brad Fritsch, Michael Gligic and Albin Choi in that mix. Vancouver's Sean Harlingten was also in the field and earned conditional status finishing T74 with a very respectable 14-under par total, just 4 shots out of the top 40.

    The final stage of Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament gets underway Thursday at the Whirlwind Golf Club (The Cattail and Devil’s Claw) in Chandler, Ariz., where four Canadians will look to secure or improve their status for 2019.

  • Mackenzie Tour Announces 2019 Q-School Tournament Dates Including Return To Crown Isle

    The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada is busy preparing for another strong season, announcing on Thursday the dates and sites for its six 2019 Qualifying Tournaments, events that determine the membership of the Mackenzie Tour.

    The six sites will be: TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, TX (February 25-March 1), Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howie-In-The-Hills, FL (March 4-8), Carlton Oaks Golf Club in Santee, CA (March 25-29), Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, AZ (April 1-5), TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (April 22-26) and Crown Isle Resort & Golf Club in Courtenay, BC (April 29-May 3).

    Each event is a 72-hole, no-cut qualifying tournament, with fields of 120 players.

  • BC's Seann Harlingten First Canadian To Move On To Web.com Q-School Final Stage

    A group of Canadian hopefuls has been looking to advance through one of five Web.com Tour qualifying events across the United States from Oct. 30 – Nov. 9.

    Field sizes at each event are approximately 75 players with no cut. The number of applicants advancing from each site will be on a pro rata basis (i.e., approximately the same percentage from each site will advance), and such number will be announced during the Second Qualifying Stage.

    All applicants tying for the last qualifying position at the conclusion of play at each site will advance.

    October 3, 2018 - VANCOUVER, BC (PGA of British Columbia) – Ashley Zibrik captured her second career title in the PGA of BC Women’s Championship presented by Dexim Golfwear at Point Grey Golf & Country Club, topping one of the strongest fields the tournament has ever seen in its return as a standalone event.

    Zibrik (Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club) recorded 40 stableford points in Wednesday’s final round, making six birdies against two bogeys, to reach a total of 74 points over the tournament’s 36 holes and earn a three-point victory. Also the PGA of BC Women’s Champion in 2012, Zibrik took home $1,000 for the win.

    The seeds of Karishma Thiagaraj’s golf game were sown in southern India, where as an 11-year-old she began to accompany her dad to the course and quickly fell in love with the sport.

    It took root in Virginia in her teenage years after her parents moved the family to the United States. Thiagaraj now hopes it can fully blossom as she begins a professional career in the Vancouver area.

    Nick Sherwood made it more difficult than it needed to be, but he still managed to win the Vancouver Open. The 27-year-old from Oregon arrived at the 18th tee with a four-shot lead in the final round of the Vancouver Golf Tour’s flagship event Sunday at Fraserview Golf Course. He hung on to win by a single shot over Richmond amateur Chris Crisologo.

    “That was more drama than what I was looking for,” a relieved Sherwood said. “If I was a spectator that would have been fun to watch, but for me it was more nerve-wracking. I got it done, luckily.”

    The 2018 Vancouver Open will take place August 31st to September 2nd. Spectators are welcome all three days of the event. Round one will be played at McCleery Golf Course on Friday and round two will be played at Langara Golf Course on Saturday.

    The final round will take place Sunday, September 2nd at Fraserview Golf Course with the leaders teeing off at 2pm to determine the 2018 Vancouver City Open Champion.

    REGINA – Brooke Henderson ended Canada’s long drought at the CP Women’s Open on Sunday, firing a final-round 7-under-par 65 to win the national championship by four strokes. Henderson finished with a 21-under 267 total, sealing the win with a short birdie putt on the 18th hole at the Wascana Country Club.

    “It’s amazing, just surreal,” Henderson said. “The crowds here have been so amazing all week, and to finish it off the way I did is really a dream come true.”

    American Angel Yin was alone in second place after a 68 and American Jennifer Song (67) was six shots behind at 15 under. Australians Minjee Lee (68) and Su Oh (69) were seven strokes off the pace in a fourth-place tie with South Korea’s Amy Yang (68) and American Austin Ernst (69).

    It was the first time a Canadian has won this tournament since Jocelyne Bourassa took the 1973 event – then called La Canadienne – at Montreal.

    Kevin Stinson has stopped chasing his PGA TOUR dream, but he certainly has not stopped playing good golf. The 32-year-old Abbotsford resident, who now teaches the game at Cheam Mountain Golf Course in Chilliwack, continued what has been a solid summer by winning the PGA of BC Championship at the Talking Rock Golf Resort in Chase on Tuesday.

    Stinson had to come from behind to do it. He began the day two shots behind first-round leader Jonnie Motomochi of Morgan Creek Golf Course in Surrey, but reeled him in with a brilliant six-under 66.

    Chris Crisologo’s first RBC Canadian Open started and finished with a birdie. The 70 holes in between weren’t bad, either. The 22-year-old Richmond resident and reigning B.C. Amateur champion rolled in a 20-foot putt for birdie on the par 5 18th hole Sunday to finish his first PGA TOUR event tied for 45th place at nine-under par.

    Crisologo closed with a three-under par 69 Sunday at Glen Abbey Golf Course after opening with rounds of 68, 69 and 73. “It was quite the experience,” Crisologo told reporters after his final round.
