RICHMOND, JUNE 22, 2025 (compiled from Golf Genius, PGA of BC, and NathanLeonhardt.com) — Nathan Leonhardt, the 2022 PGA of BC Teacher of the Year and founder of the Tour Development Academy, delivered the best round of his career June 16th, firing a 12-under-par 61 to set a new course record at Quilchena Golf & Country Club during a G&G Tour event in Richmond.

Leonhardt’s blistering round included 11 birdies, one eagle, and just a single bogey, giving him a 5-stroke win over Zac Carson and Cory Renfrew. He carded 30 on the front nine and 31 on the back, with birdies on holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15 and an eagle on the par-5 18th.

“Golf has brought me a lot of highs and lows through my life, but this was a special moment that I will never forget,” Leonhardt told the PGA of BC. “Growing up in Richmond makes it even more meaningful.”

Now best known as a high-performance coach, Leonhardt has an extensive playing background. He turned professional in 2011 after captaining the men’s golf team at Johnson & Wales University (North Miami), where he graduated with a 3.8 GPA. He competed on PGA Tour Canada from 2011–2013 and on PGA Tour China in 2014.

After retiring from professional play, he launched Tour Development Academy in Richmond. He has also consulted on major projects, including serving as the official golf consultant for the Apple TV+ series STICK, starring Owen Wilson.

Reflecting on the round, Leonhardt shared on Instagram:

“What I would have given to shoot rounds like that when I was competing for a living. Now I don’t practice and do it! It’s amazing what can happen when we get out of our own way.”

His round broke the previous Quilchena record of 62 and marks his third career course record, joining 62 at Mayfair Lakes GC and 65 at GreenTee GC.
