The contributions of PGA professionals are fundamental to the strength of golf in BC. Their expertise and dedication are felt across every aspect of the sport, from the quality of our golf facilities and everyday experiences of golfers to the development of athletes, competitive opportunities and the communities surrounding our courses.
The PGA of BC celebrated that excellence on October 27 at the Langley Events Centre, honouring outstanding professionals and facilities at its 2026 Provincial Awards Celebration. BC Golf joins in recognizing this year's recipients, whose achievements reflect the remarkable depth of talent, leadership and commitment within BC's golf community.
Among this year's honourees is Michelle McCann of Uplands Golf Club, recipient of the Jack Westover Coach of the Year Award. The provincial honour recognizes excellence in coaching, including the development of outstanding athletes and innovative coaching programs. McCann's recognition follows her selection as the PGA of BC's Junior Golf Leader of the Year in 2025. She is also a valued member of BC Golf's Team BC high-performance coaching team, working with athletes in the Vancouver Island Regional Squad.
Joel Aitken of Kelowna Golf & Country Club received the Jack McLaughlin Junior Golf Leader of the Year Award, recognizing outstanding leadership in creating opportunities for young golfers to learn, develop and compete. Aitken has also been instrumental in delivering junior competition through BC Golf's Zone 2, serving as Junior Coordinator and helping organize events throughout the Thompson Okanagan.
The Association's highest honour, the Lifetime Achievement Award, was presented to Wayne Vollmer, whose distinguished career includes time on the PGA TOUR and more than 25 years leading golf operations at Morgan Creek Golf Course. A 2024 inductee into the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame, Vollmer's contributions have left a lasting mark on golf in BC.
Beyond the individual achievements recognized, the celebration highlighted the generosity of PGA of BC professionals, whose collective efforts raised more than $240,000 through the 2026 Golfathon for ALS and over $57,000 through the Teach-A-Thon for Mental Health.
BC Golf extends its congratulations to all of this year's award recipients and its appreciation to the many PGA professionals whose dedication and contributions continue to make BC such an exceptional place to enjoy golf.
