British Columbia Golf is working to build a more connected future for golf in BC, making it easier for people to find their place in the game and see where it might lead them next.
Golf in British Columbia takes shape in countless ways: a first lesson, a standing weekend tee time, a provincial championship, an evening at the driving range, a volunteer shift, a return to the game after years away. Around each of those experiences sits a wider network of clubs and facilities, professionals and coaches, volunteers, administrators, partners, and communities whose work keeps the game moving.

British Columbia Golf’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan sets the direction for how we intend to contribute to that shared work over the next five years.
At its centre are a new Vision and Mission that sharpen both the future we are working toward and the role we intend to play in getting there.
Our Vision, to increase participation and enjoyment of the sport, holds two ambitions together. We want more people to find golf, but participation alone does not tell the whole story; the game also has to give people reasons to keep choosing it, whether that means competition, recreation, volunteering, connection, or simply the pleasure of playing.
Our Mission, to be a valued partner in growing “Golf, a sport for life,” speaks to how we will pursue that future. Golf in British Columbia is built across clubs and facilities, professionals and coaches, volunteers, administrators, communities, and partners, each with a different part to play. British Columbia Golf’s role changes with the work: at times we may lead, while elsewhere our greatest value lies in delivering, connecting, stewarding, amplifying, or supporting the right people and organizations.
That understanding runs through the full plan, organized around four themes: Partnerships, Pathways, Profile, and Organization.
Partnerships
Building strategic relationships to scale impact
Golf grows through relationships, and this theme looks at how British Columbia Golf can strengthen and better connect the ecosystem around the game. The work includes reinforcing partner relationships, developing the foundation for a “Home of Golf” in BC, creating greater value around championship hosting, strengthening membership and broadening the revenue and partnerships that can sustain the work over time.
At its simplest, Partnerships helps us create more opportunities and extend our reach.
Pathways
Building clear engagement trajectories to foster participation
There is no single route through golf, and a person's relationship to the game continues to change over time.
The Pathways theme focuses on making those opportunities easier to understand and follow across recreational participation, volunteering, and player development, while working with partners to help people at every age, stage, and ability find what comes next.
It is about widening every invitation and opportunity to play, and making the next step easier to see.
Profile
Building brand recognition, reputation, and market positioning
A stronger golf ecosystem also depends on people understanding who British Columbia Golf is, what we do, and how our work connects to their experience of the game.
Through stronger communications and engagement, better digital tools and infrastructure, and more purposeful storytelling, the Profile theme will help make British Columbia Golf’s role and value easier to recognize while giving greater visibility to the people, programs, services, and partnerships shaping golf across the province.
Organization
Building organizational capacity to ensure long-term sustainability and operational excellence
The work described throughout the plan depends on an organization capable of sustaining it.
Organization focuses on the people, systems, governance, financial planning, and continuous improvement behind British Columbia Golf’s public work: strengthening staff, Board, and volunteer capacity; improving technology and infrastructure; supporting sound governance and long-term planning; and continuing to examine how programs, services, and pathways can evolve.
Much of that work may never be visible to the golfer experiencing it, but it gives British Columbia Golf the capacity and systems to follow through on what we promise.
Taken together, these four themes connect the ambition of greater participation and enjoyment with the relationships, opportunities, public presence, and organizational capacity needed to move toward it.
A five-year plan gives us direction while leaving room to learn. Golf will continue to evolve, as will the people and communities around it, and the choices that follow will be informed by what we hear, what we learn and where British Columbia Golf can be most useful.
The plan itself reflects that spirit. We are especially grateful to the members and partners who contributed through our strategic planning surveys, whose perspectives helped sharpen the priorities in this plan and deepen our understanding of the role British Columbia Golf can play in the years ahead.
Put simply, our aim is a game that is easier to join and harder to drift away from.
