The 2025 Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship Series made its second stop on July 17 at Fort Langley Golf Course, where 16 teams from across the Lower Mainland competed in a spirited 2-net best ball showdown. This unique format paired PGA of BC Professionals with three junior golfers from their home facility, giving young players an opportunity to shine alongside their mentors.
The Winning Squad From Richmond CC
Emerging victorious was the team from Richmond Country Club, led by Professional Sebastien Turgeon and juniors Ethan You, Tristan Cui, and Carson Chow. The quartet posted a remarkable 22-under-par net score of 122 to capture the title by three strokes.
"It was a great day of golf, and our juniors really brought their best," said Turgeon in an interview with the PGA of BC. "They played with confidence, and it was rewarding to see their teamwork pay off."
The Vancouver Golf Club team of Will Barnett, Jacoby Frizzell, Torrell Zhang, and Brody Marasa finished runner-up with a strong 19-under-par performance. Four teams tied for third place at 16-under, including squads from Squamish Valley, Bowen Island, Morgan Creek, and Seymour Golf & Country Club.
The event also featured a unique birdie pot for participating Professionals, with several earning cash prizes based on their scoring contributions. Thanks to sponsors Sundog Eyewear, Blue Tees Golf, and adidas Golf Canada, juniors received quality prizing and tee gifts, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The Lower Mainland stop was part of a four-region series that also included events in Kelowna, Victoria, and Windermere. Each event honours the legacy of Jack McLaughlin, a lifelong promoter of junior golf and former Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club Head Professional.
