Three of British Columbia’s brightest young stars — Clairey Lin (Langley), Kendria Wang (Vancouver), and Clara Ding (White Rock) — have been named to Team Canada for the 2025 World Junior Girls Golf Championship, set for September 15–20 at St. Catharines Golf & Country Club.
Golf Canada announced Thursday that six players will represent the host nation, split across Team Canada 1 and Team Canada 2. The BC trio joins Ontario’s Shauna Liu and Michelle Xing, and Alberta’s Eileen Park on the national roster.
Clairey Lin will be making her second consecutive World Junior appearance. Last year she played on Team Canada 1 and finished tied for 16th individually. The 17-year-old added to her résumé this season with a win at the AJGA Thunderbird Heather Farr Classic, plus two runner-up finishes and a podium finish at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship earlier in August.
Kendria Wang, 16, earns her first World Junior selection after a strong summer that included finishing runner-up at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship. She also owns three junior victories from last season and enters the event as one of Canada’s most consistent performers.
At just 14 years old, Clara Ding is the youngest BC player on the team and will also be making her World Junior debut. Ding has already established herself on the national stage, winning the GolfBC Group BC Women’s Open as part of the She Plays Golf Championship Series and capturing the Women’s Orlando International Amateur Championship earlier this year.
The World Junior Girls Golf Championship is celebrating its tenth edition this fall. A total of 23 countries and 72 players will compete, with Canada fielding two teams. Past champions include the Republic of Korea, Spain, Italy, and the United States.
The event is more than a showcase — the individual champion will also earn an exemption into the 2026 CPKC Women’s Open, set for Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton.
“We are very proud and excited to announce the six players who will represent Team Canada at the 2025 World Junior Girls Golf Championship,” said Emily Phoenix, Golf Canada’s Director of High Performance, in a release. “All of the players have had very strong seasons and are deserving of this selection. We are confident that both teams will be in the hunt for the championship and represent Canada proudly.”
Team Canada will be guided by Jeff MacDonald, NextGen Girls Head Coach, and Jennifer Ha, Assistant Coach. MacDonald, a three-time PGA of Atlantic Canada Coach of the Year, brings over 20 years of coaching experience, while Ha — a former LPGA Tour pro — is now an associate professional at Priddis Greens in Calgary.
St. Catharines Golf & Country Club, a historic Stanley Thompson design, will provide a par-72 championship test. Practice rounds take place September 15–16, with competition running September 17–20. Admission is free for all spectators.
