The Vancouver Island leg of the 2025 Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship Series teed off at Cedar Hill Golf Course on July 21, welcoming 11 four-player teams to compete in the region’s stop of this beloved annual series.

Each team featured a PGA of BC professional joined by three junior players from the same facility. The event followed a two-net best-ball format designed to ensure juniors of all skill levels could meaningfully contribute.

Under mild summer skies with light breezes off the Strait, Myrtle Point Golf Club emerged as the champion. Led by professional Ryan Brown and juniors Lucas Vizzutti, Jeremy Pukesh, and Jacob Babcock, the team posted a spectacular 15-under-par net total (119) to top the leaderboard.

"The kids really came through with clutch shots throughout the round," said Brown in an interview with PGA of BC staff. "It was a team effort all the way, and I’m incredibly proud of how they represented our club."

Finishing second at 12-under-par (122) was Uplands Golf Club’s first team, consisting of Benjamin Griffin, Saul Lines, Charlie DeBeck, and Ryan Oliver. Two additional Uplands teams tied for third at 9-under (125): the squads led by professionals Justin Clews and Sean Hay.

Strong showings also came from Nanaimo Golf Club, Victoria Golf Centre, Glacier Greens, and Gorge Vale, with Cedar Hill Golf Course’s host team rounding out the field. Multiple juniors received birdie pot prizes, including Brown himself, as well as Benjamin Griffin (Uplands), Mark Valliere (Glacier Greens), and Eddward Boudreau (Gorge Vale).

The event was presented by Sundog Eyewear, Blue Tees Golf, and Adidas Golf Canada. PGA of BC extended special thanks to Cedar Hill Teaching Professional Laird White and his staff for their hospitality and well-run event.

The Pro-Junior Championship Series continues to uphold the legacy of Jack McLaughlin, the late Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club professional and passionate junior golf advocate.
