KAMLOOPS, June 12, 2025 (excerpted from CFJC Today) — Golf professionals at the Kamloops Golf and Country Club teed off with purpose during the annual PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS, dedicating a full day on June 12 to raise funds for individuals living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Starting their first round at 4:20 a.m., head pro Alec Hubert and assistant pro Andrew Bentley played as many holes as possible from sunrise to sunset. Their efforts contributed to a broader provincial initiative that has raised over $2.7 million since 2005 for the ALS Society of BC.

“This event gives us the chance to do something we love to support a cause that deeply affects families across British Columbia,” said Hubert in an interview with CFJC Today.

On instagram, the Club posted,"On June 12, Alec and Andrew took on the ALS Golf-a-thon, swinging through round after round with one goal: to raise $5,000 for ALS research and support. Their dedication was incredible, but we’re not stopping there."

Funds raised help support psychological services, youth camps, and equipment for ALS patients. This year’s campaign runs throughout June at participating courses across B.C.

Kamloops Golf and Country Club set a fundraising goal of $7,500, with proceeds going directly to patient care and family support.
