EUGENE, OREGON, JULY 26, 2025 (compiled from Pacific Coast Amateur leaderboard data) — After three strong rounds at Eugene Country Club, Kelowna’s Cooper Humphreys entered the final day of the 2025 Pacific Coast Amateur Championship just four shots off the lead and in contention for a top finish. But a difficult final round on Friday saw the 2023 BC Amateur champion slide down the leaderboard.

Humphreys, who had opened the tournament with rounds of 68, 70, and 72, posted a disappointing 77 on Friday. He carded a front-nine 38 and a back-nine 39, ending the tournament at +3 (287) and finishing in a tie for 18th place. Richmond's  Mackenzie Bickell finished at +6 in a tie for 44th while  Manny (Manpreet) Lalh from Nanaimo missed the cut by four shots.

Tournament winner Jaden Dumdumaya of Benicia, California, posted back-to-back rounds of 66 and 68 on the final two days to capture the title at -6 (278), one stroke ahead of runner-up Dylan Ma of Beijing, China. BC did come fourth in the team Morse Cup competition held over the first two rounds finishing at even par three strokes behind the Arizona and Oregon teams.

Humphreys had shown flashes of brilliance during the week, including a bogey-free 68 in the opening round and a tidy 70 on Wednesday. But he was unable to recover from four bogeys and a double on Friday, despite birdies on the 5th and 14th holes.

Humphreys' good showing was just a continuation of his first year with the University of San Diego Toreros, where he played in all 13 tournaments of the 2024–25 season. Over 39 rounds, he averaged 71.72 strokes and recorded 12 rounds in the 60s. Humphreys also notched three top-10 finishes, including a T7 at The Prestige and a T8 at the Pacific Invitational, helping USD win the team title in each of those events. His best round score of 67 came twice in October.
