ABBOTSFORD, July 3, 2025 — The University of the Fraser Valley has named former Cascades standout Eli Greene as its new head coach for both the men’s and women’s golf teams. A native of Nanaimo, Greene returns to his alma mater after a decorated four-year playing career and brings fresh energy and insight to the program.

Greene, a three-time medalist at Canada West and two-time national medallist, officially took the helm following the June conclusion of the 2024–25 season, where the women’s team finished fifth and the men’s sixth at the Canadian University/College Championships.

“It’s a huge honour,” said Greene. “I’m excited to be on the other side of the mission with the team. Having the perspective that I have as a former athlete bodes very well to support both the program and the individual athletes.”

UFV Associate Athletic Director Alicia Hurley added, “We are pleased to have Eli step in … and excited to see the program continue to grow under his guidance.

Greene highlighted his dedication to building both athletic and personal resilience:

“Of course performance is a huge thing, but I’m most excited to support people … it’s about trusting people and allowing them to trust the work they put in.”

He’s already setting sights on the upcoming Canada West Golf Championships, scheduled for October 20–21, 2025, at the University of Victoria.
