Cranbrook Claims Kootenays Crown At PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship

The Kootenays region wrapped up its leg of the 2025 Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship Series on July 22 at Windermere Valley Golf Course, where six teams teed off in the scenic mountain setting.

Teams were composed of one PGA of BC professional and three junior golfers from their club, all competing in the fun-focused two-net best-ball format that characterizes the Pro-Junior Championship Series.

In a tight finish, Cranbrook Golf Club’s team of professional Jake Lloy and juniors Ethan Pinch, Collin Kakuno, and Kaden Hatala secured the regional title with a 121 total, 11-under-par. The four-player squad edged out their closest competition by a single stroke to claim Kootenay bragging rights.

"It was awesome to watch our juniors rise to the occasion," said Lloy in an interview with PGA of BC staff. "Every player made key contributions, and we had a great time from start to finish."

Finishing second at 10-under-par (122) was Spur Valley Golf Resort’s team of Ryan Fisher, Jake Cable, Jayden Jerke, and Brooklyn Haley, who put together a strong team performance.

Rounding out the podium were host professional Bryan Armstrong and his Windermere Valley Golf Course team of Sawyer Wright, Crosby Vernon, and Liam Galloway. They posted a solid 131 (1-under-par) to place third.

Copper Point Golf Club entered two teams, while Windermere Valley fielded a second squad as well, showcasing junior talent from across the region. The day concluded with an awards luncheon recognizing both team achievements and individual highlights.

The PGA of BC thanked all participants and especially Windermere Valley professional Bryan Armstrong and his team for their hospitality.
