COBBLE HILL, B.C., August 15, 2025 (compiled from BC Golf and Arbutus Ridge sources) — The 2025 British Columbia Girls & Boys U17 Championship is set to return to Vancouver Island, with Arbutus Ridge Golf Club in Cobble Hill hosting the top junior talent in the province from August 19 to 21.
Established in 1987, the BC U17 Championship has helped shape the careers of many competitive amateur golfers across the province. Open to players aged 16 and under, the 54-hole stroke play event has traditionally attracted a full field of up to 120 boys and girls who hold valid Golf Canada indexes. Entry is open to golfers with a verified index of 10.0 or better (boys) and 18.0 or better (girls).The cut will be made after 36 holes, and playoff protocols are in place to decide the top three positions in each division. A practice round is scheduled for August 18.
The event will be played at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, a semi-private facility located 40 minutes north of Victoria. Designed by Bill Robinson and opened in 1988, the course expanded to 18 holes in 1991. Known for its scenic fairways, strong junior programming, and island hospitality, Arbutus Ridge previously hosted the 2016 BC Junior Boys Championship and the 2010 BC Women’s Amateur/Mid-Amateur. Its 6,152-yard, par-70/72 layout winds through mature trees and residential settings, offering a fair but strategic test for players.
Owned and operated by Yi Jing Golf Club Inc. since 2019, Arbutus Ridge continues to be a year-round community hub and tournament venue. Its Golf Academy features a driving range and short-game area, while the on-site Satellite Bar & Grille and clubhouse facilities have earned awards for service and sustainability, including the 2017 Tourism Vancouver Island Employer of the Year.
