Zone 5 Women’s Amateur, Senior & Handicap Titles Decided After Two-Day Battle

A resilient field of Zone 5 women golfers braved cold, windy conditions at Bear Mountain on Monday, May 26, to open the 2025 Amateur/Senior/Handicap Championships. Despite the tough start, players played under sunny skies Tuesday at Cowichan Golf Club to complete the 36-hole stroke play event.

Cindy Koira (BCP) claimed the Amateur title with a 155, while Karen Kloske (Cowichan GC) emerged as Senior Champion at 175. Jenifer Jones (Gorge Vale) took top honours in the Handicap division with a net 147.

The event welcomed players with verifiable handicaps, with Amateur and Senior divisions capped at an 18.0 index. The Handicap division was open to all. Top Amateur and Senior finishers now qualify to represent Zone 5 at the BC Women’s Amateur (June 23–26, Victoria GC) and BC Senior Championship (June 9–12, Whistler).

Special thanks were extended to staff at both clubs, and to Marilyn Ray and Carrie Dallaway, event captains at Bear Mountain and Cowichan respectively.
