Ewart ties for 10th on PGA Tour Americas; Svensson cracks top 15 at 3M; Zalli wins Golden Ears Open at Pitt Meadows GC

COURSE RECORD: Surrey’s Adam Svensson opened and closed strong to finish tied for 14th at the PGA Tour’s 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota. Svensson set a course record with an 11-under 60 in the first round, but followed that up with a four-over 75 in the second round. He closed with rounds of 68 and 65 to finish the event at 16-under par, seven shots behind winner Kurt Kitayama. Svensson climbed eight spots on the FedEx Cup points list to 162nd. Abbotsford’s Adam Hadwin tied for 44th at 11-under par. He remains 134th on the points list. Svensson and Hadwin are both in the field for this week Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C., which is the final regular-season event before the FedEx Cup playoffs begin the following week. Hadwin and Svensson would need to win the Wyndham to sneak into the top 70 and qualify for the playoffs.

TOP 10 FOR EWART: It was a birdie-fest at the Commissionaires Ottawa Open on the PGA Tour Americas circuit. Coquitlam’s A.J. Ewart finished 20-under par and that was only good for a tie for 10th place. Winner Brett White of Grand Rapids, Mich., eagled his final hole to shoot a 13-under 59 and tie the lead at 26-under. He then beat Danny Fisher of Lake Forest, Ill., and Nathan Franks of Roebuck, S.C., on the second-hole of a sudden death playoff.
Richmond’s Chris Crisologo tied for 38th at 16-under par. Ewart, Crisologo and Kimberley’s Jared du Toit, who missed the cut in Ottawa, are all in the field for this week’s  Osprey Valley Open at TPC Toronto’s Heathlands course. Ewart’s top 10 moved him up three spots to 16th on the tour’s Fortinet Cup points list. The top 10 players on the points list following the season-ending Fortinet Cup Championship at Morgan Creek Golf Course in Surrey in late September earn full Korn Ferry Tour status in 2026.

KORN ON THE COURSE: Vancouver’s Stuart Macdonald closed with a five-under 66 and tied for 30th at the Korn Ferry tour’s NV5 Invitational in Glenview, Ill. Macdonald finished at 17-under par and moved up two spots to sit 37th on the tour’s points list. Merritt’s Roger Sloan tied for 41st at 16-under and now stands 123rd on the points list. Johnny Keefer of San Antonio, Tex., finished 26-under par to win the event.

Humphreys shared the lead through two rounds and was tied for third heading into the final round. He closed with a six-over 77 and finished the event at three-over par. That was nine shots behind winner Jaden Dumdumaya of Benicia, Calif. The British Columbia team of Humpheys, Manpreet Lahl of Nanaimo and Richmond’s Mackenzie Bickell tied for fourth in the 36-hole Morse Cup team competition that was won by the Arizona Golf Association.
