PRINCE GEORGE, JULY 21 (excerpted from CKPG Today) — It’s been a soggy summer in Prince George, and while the rain has dampened rounds, it’s also helped some golfers save money.

Local courses like Aberdeen Glen and Prince George Golf & Curling Club have adjusted pricing on rainier days to encourage play. “We want to see people out here enjoying golf, even if it’s a little wet,” said Kevin Oates, general manager of PG Golf & Curling Club.

But the moisture also presents maintenance headaches. At Aberdeen Glen, superintendent Derek Stewart noted the rain can make fairways too soft for mowing and challenges turf conditions. “We’ve had to stay off some areas just to protect the grass,” he explained.

Despite the struggles, course operators remain optimistic, noting that Prince George’s golf community is resilient—and grateful for any dry tee times.
