Kelowna, B.C. – June 24, 2025 - The 15th annual Bubba Open golf tournament took place over the weekend of June 22–23 at Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club, capping off another successful year of fundraising for two local animal charities—and marking the end of an era for longtime organizer Ken Coles.

Over the past decade and a half, the tournament has grown from a small group of supporters into a sold-out annual fixture on the Central Okanagan’s charity golf calendar. Proceeds benefit Paws it Forward and AlleyCATS Alliance, two organizations dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of dogs and cats throughout the region.

“It’s been an amazing run,” said Coles, who confirmed this was his final year as the tournament’s lead organizer. “Someone has stepped up to take the tournament over.”

Coles’ efforts have helped raise more than $110,000 coming into the 15th annual tournament including $13,000 in 2023 alone. A quote from the Bubba Open’s Facebook page summed up the community’s appreciation:

“Last year was an amazing success raising $13,000!! A HUGE thank you to all those who participated, donated, sponsored, volunteered, and were in some way part of this incredible day!! You all Rock!! 🤟🏻😜🙏”

This year’s event featured a sold-out field. In addition to the golf, participants supported the cause through a silent auction that ran until July 3.
