Royal Colwood GC and Cordova Bay GC hosted 108 competitors May 24-25 in the Zone 5 Men’s Amateur, Mid-Amateur, Mid-Master, Junior, Senior and Super-Senior Championships.
Playing two demanding courses in ideal conditions, Pete Jawl (Victoria GC) captured both the Amateur and Mid-Amateur crowns, carding five threes over the back nine in the final round to edge Royal Colwood’s Kevin Carrigan.

Royal Colwood’s Gary Pike claimed the Mid-Master title, while club-mate Neil O’Leary topped the Senior field. Ken Rowan (VGC) prevailed in a sudden-death playoff over Brian Murphy (Royal Colwood) and Dave Mansi (Gorge Vale) to secure Super-Senior honours.
The Junior ranks belonged to Owen Beaulac (Gorge Vale), who swept Overall, Junior, Juvenile and Bantam divisions. Noah Jun (Cordova Bay) earned Low Net Junior.

The 36-hole stroke-play event also served as qualifier for BC Amateur quota spots, with the low finishers securing places on the Zone 5 team for this summer’s provincial championship.
