Fauquier, B.C. — June 2025 - A new season at Fauquier Golf Course is bringing more than green fairways — it’s sparking renewed energy and grassroots ambition to grow the nonprofit club into a stronger community hub.
Earlier this spring, fauquier_golfman (known locally as the club’s new Head Greenskeeper and Maintenance Manager) took to social media to announce his new role and share a vision for revitalizing the nine-hole course.
“I’m thrilled to announce that I’m taking on the role of Head Greenskeeper and Maintenance Manager at Fauquier Golf Course,” he wrote on Instagram. “My duties will include overseeing the maintenance of the greens and ensuring our equipment is in top shape.”
The course has a rich local legacy dating back to 1967, and the new leadership is committed to preserving it. In recent months, Fauquier has launched seasonal leagues for men (Wednesdays), women (Thursdays), and mixed twosomes (Sundays) — inviting golfers of all levels to enjoy play with panoramic lake views and a welcoming vibe.
Beyond league play, the course is doubling down on community outreach, including cleanup days, raffle events, and volunteer drives to keep the grounds in top condition.
“All proceeds fuel our shared mission: keeping the club running, beautifying the grounds, and staying on top of maintenance,” continued fauquier_golfman. “Even if you don’t golf, come down and help out… many hands make light work.”
Despite past concerns about slope stability along the lakeshore, no erosion or landslide activity has been reported this season — a welcome sign for players eager to return. Meanwhile, weekly updates and behind-the-scenes looks at course conditions are now regularly posted to the club’s social channels.
With summer underway, Fauquier Golf Course is hoping more locals and visitors will turn out to support the course and its mission to remain a vital, volunteer-powered gem in the Kootenays.
