Invermere, B.C. — June 25, 2025
Copper Point Golf Club has once again proven itself a leader both in sport and in community impact. In mid-June, the Invermere-based course raised nearly $20,000 during its annual Golfathon for ALS, while General Manager Brian Schaal was honoured as Rotary Citizen of the Year for his ongoing service to the Columbia Valley.

On June 17, the Copper Point team completed an astounding 885 holes of golf in one day as part of the province-wide Golfathon for ALS. The effort brought in just under $20,000, pushing the club’s 20-year fundraising total to over $150,000.

“It’s a cause close to our hearts, and we’re proud to continue making an impact,” a team member said following the event.

Funds from the Golfathon support the ALS Society of BC, helping provide equipment and care for individuals and families affected by the disease.

Just days earlier, Brian Schaal, who has managed Copper Point for more than two decades, was recognized as Rotary Citizen of the Year by the Rotary Club of Invermere. The award highlights Schaal’s deep commitment not only to the game of golf but to volunteerism, local partnerships, and leadership within the community.

Both moments underline the role Copper Point continues to play — not just as a top-tier golf destination, but as a vital contributor to the Columbia Valley region.
