Invermere, B.C. – June 17, 2025 – The team at Copper Point Golf Club once again proved that commitment and community spirit can go the distance, raising nearly $20,000 during their 19th Golfathon for ALS as part of the 2025 PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS.

Beginning at 4:50 a.m. and wrapping up just before 10:35 p.m., the Copper Point pros powered through an astonishing 885 holes of golf in one day—nearly 15 rounds—bringing the club’s lifetime fundraising total to more than $150,000 since first participating in 2006.

The lineup featured four professionals, each making an extraordinary effort. Executive Professional and GM Brian Schaal, Head Professional Scott McClain, and Assistant Professional Matt Gillett each completed 265 holes. Director of Instruction Dale Moore played 90 holes, while PGA of BC candidate Jenn Perry, despite being injured, spent the day keeping score and rallying the team.

“Copper Point Golf Club continues to support this PGA of BC initiative while raising funds and awareness for the ALS Society of BC,” said McClain. “We are proud to have surpassed $150,000 over the past 19 seasons, which has helped patients and their families affected by ALS.”

Donald Miyazaki, Executive Director of the ALS Society of BC, praised the Copper Point team: “They pick their day near the summer solstice to maximize daylight—and then they stretch play into darkness before and after. They truly are heroes.”

The ALS Society of BC's PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS fundraising program has a lofty goal of raising $250,000 in 2025 through more than 30 events taking place across the province. 100% of funds raised in BC directly benefit ALS patients and their families.

This year’s campaign is proudly presented by the Pacific Blue Cross Foundation. Since its inception, the Golfathon has raised over $3 million, supporting vital ALS services including equipment loans, psychological support, and Camp Alohi Lani for children impacted by ALS.

Although the day has passed, donations are still being accepted online through the end of the year at www.golfathonforals.com.
