POSITION SUMMARY
The Summer Team Intern will support the Player Development department in the planning, coordination, and administration of provincial teams, events, and programs. This role provides hands-on experience in high-performance sport operations, including team logistics, event coordination, athlete services, and administrative support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Team Operations & Event Coordination
- Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating BC Interprovincial Teams
- Support the delivery of the North Pacific Team Matches and Eddie Hogan Cup Team
- Coordinate team logistics for national and international competitions
- Work collaboratively with coaches and Non-Playing Captains (NPCs) to finalize team details
2. BC Summer Games
- Provide administrative and operational support for the BC Summer Games program
- Assist in implementing requirements as outlined by the BC Games Society
- Work in consultation with the Player Development team to support Games preparation
- Support onsite at the BC Summer Games
3. Performance Squads & Training Programs
- Assist with coordination of BC Performance Squads and training sessions
- Support registration processes and prepare program materials
- Distribute and collect athlete evaluation and feedback forms
- Assist with media, player profiles, photography, and social media content
- Design player, coach and parent handbook
4. National Quotas Administration
- Support administration of national quota allocations
- Maintain and update master spreadsheets tracking quotas, exemptions, and results
- Coordinate with the Championship Committee and Quota Selection Committee
- Confirm player selections and communicate quota assignments
- Submit required documentation to Golf Canada within established deadlines
OTHER JOB DUTIES
Team Administration
- Coordinate team travel, accommodation, and logistics
- Communicate travel details with athletes, coaches, and stakeholders
- Manage team equipment, including uniforms, bags, and inventory
- Ensure timely distribution of player subsidies and required documentation
- Prepare and distribute fact sheets and competition information packages
- Maintain team files and master tracking spreadsheets
- Collect and record athlete results and update competition plans
- Coordinate completion of required forms (medical, waivers, code of conduct)
- Compile and submit team registration to Golf Canada
Financial & Tracking Responsibilities
- Track and log all team-related expenses using the department Visa log system
- Maintain accurate financial records for reconciliation purposes
Data & Reporting
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records across all programs
- Collect athlete feedback and evaluation data
- Prepare and submit a final report summarizing work completed and key outcomes
General Administrative Duties
- Submit payroll hours on a bi-weekly basis
- Provide administrative support to Player Development staff and coaches
- Assist with general office duties and coverage as required
